Good for you to get out there and start trying. Hope you find some yummy food you enjoy for the weekend. Wisht you a great gluten free Friday!! We don't have Wegmans on the west coast but my brother,s family loves that store! Smiles Barb

Stick with Wegmans...they are awesome and they won't put the G on their products for GF if they are not certain...

Thanks everybody - We went shopping on Wednesday, and truthfully I feel more overwhelmed than before. But then I have contacted some companies and they have been really good about sending me some information. When I emailed Land O Lakes they said that the FDA hadn't defined Gluten Free so they won't claim it, but as far as they know their products don't contain gluten. And our local grocery store, sent me a huge list with all the store brand gluten free products. With the help from all of you and the companies, I think we will do ok. As long as we take it one day at a time.

Thanks again all!
@CINDYTW - I'm thinking that Land O Lakes isn't GF because when I go to the web site and click on Gluten Free it comes up with 86 receipes but says 0 products. I haven't actually called or emailed them to confirm though. I would love it if they were. LOL! Good luck to you and Thanks!

Land O Lakes isn't GF?? I thought it was...I really shouldn't be eating it anyway (casein issues) but I do sometimes...

I've never been a deli cheese person and since going GF even more so since they don't thoroughly clean the slicer between products and some have gluten in them.
(edit since just remembered)Boars head meat and cheese are GF, just make sure they use a clean slicer.

Cheese with gluten is the minority. Some shredded cheeses have gluten in them to keep it from sticking - Kraft, Sargento, Albertsons are OK(Theres more but this is what I can think of right now).
Another biggie - bleu cheese unless declares wheat as an ingredient is safe. The Canadian Celiac Ass. did a study and this was their finding.

barb, if the cheese has milk it has cassein and I can assure you that Tillamook cheese is made from cows milk. My friend can't have cassein and can't eat Tillamook or any cheese except Daiya.

I use tillamook brand cheese which is from Oregon and I know has no gluten or casein in it which I have issues with. Not sure about other brands....I buy grated cheeses and was concerned about this too so I checked and got my info from the manufacture. Smiles Barb

Hi All - I'm new to the group and the ones I have spoke with said I could ask questions, which I appreciate. So here is the first of MANY (I'm sure) questions. My DH and I and our girls eat alot of Deli American Cheese. I do know that the particular brand (Land O Lakes) is not GF. Is there another brand of this type of cheese that is GF? I'm very confused on the cheese. I have heard hard cheese is ok, but I'm not 100% sure what that means. We like to get the cheese from the Deli, but I'm willing to do the already sliced cheese in the dairy section. Any thoughts or tricks???? Thanks in advance.
