I eat Bob's gluten free oatmeal every morning, almonds, fruit, salad, raw carrots, coconut ice cream, popcorn, veggies and use Pamela's bread mix with added oatmeal made into rolls. I try to add in beans but they are not my digestive tracks favorite food. I also add "fiber one" fiber powder to my salad dressing and smoothies to increase my fiber.

The fat in flax is good for your body so don't dismiss it. I mix my psyllium with ground flax and when I want to just chew on something I chew on whole flax seeds and they don't have that much fat in. 3 Tablespoons is only 160 calories and you end up not chewing them all. I always end up chewing only 1 Tablespoon, I think the chewing action makes me full and then I have to put the rest back for later.

I eat g.f. oatmeal with blueberries and 2 TBLS flaxseed, black beans on my salad or quinoa, and popcorn. I love popcorn and it's a good low-fat, low-cal option to other snacking choices. I made Patti's Beans for dinner tonight, so I know I got my fiber in (baked beans, kidney beans, butter beans).

Beans!!!! And edamame. Popcorn (we air pop). I don't really do grains either except a few servings a week of gf oats. Also if you can always buy foods that have even a lithe fiber, like every meal have a fiber or two (veggies and fruits - are you REALLY getting 6-8 servings a day). I'm always around 40g of fiber everyday and I'm at 1500 cals so it IS possible. I take NO fiber supplements.

good luck!

I actually eat a ton of fruits and veggies and still have trouble. For the last year I have been taking the fiber pills from Walmart. They are the knock offs and are orange. I only take one at night and that is enough to keep me regular. Plus lots of water!! They do say gluten free but you have to open up the label as it is not on the outside in an obvious place. Just peel it back and you will see it. I have taken Psyllium in the past but that always seemed to upset my stomach. This is the first pill that I actually like. The label says you can take more than what I do but I only take what I need. I would always recommend starting off taking less until you know how your body will react. Good luck!

Flax may be high in calories, but it's a big bang for your buck. Higher fat and fibre content actually slows down digestion so you absorb less calories. Shouldn't be afraid to eat healthy fats. In fact, I would take a healthy fat over any whole grain any day. I think it's GRAINS and bready carbs that make us FAT.

I agree with the other commenters. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, and especially beans!! I eat beans every day and my fiber is always 30+

Fresh fruits and veggies pack lots of fiber! And you're supposed to eat them anyway, so it's double duty. Also, whole grains like quinoa and brown rice are great sources. And for fiber, plus protein, beans are great.

Crunchmaster crackers. Delish! Blueberries, popcorn-be careful if you get microwave. These are some of my favorites.

Psyllium? It is 15 cals a teaspoon and I was taking 3 a day. I now have been taking Metamucil Clear and natural (inulin) and still 3 a day. It is about the same. I am low on SOLUBLE fiber, but get a lot of insoluble from fruits and veggies.

My suggestion is... Flaxseed meal. Sorry, I know that isn't the answer you are seeking. Honestly, at 60 calories and 4.5 g fat per serving (2 tbsp), I think it is an excellent choice. For example, both the flax toast and flax wrap I consumed today had only 125 calories and 7 g fat, while they both provide 6 g fiber. Some other options are beans, peas, potatoes, broccoli, nuts, and fruits like pears, prunes, blackberries, and apples.

I'm doing pretty good with Spark People, but I'm always low on Fiber. Any suggestions? Flax is so high in calories and fat for what it is.
