Just read this article and it seemed relevant. I have added B-3 and D due to deficiencies and feel much more energetic. But the article goes through other possible issues to feeling 100%.

Unexplained rashes are often due to food allergies. Isn't it amazing how our bodies try to tell us what they don't like? I am thankful that we have so many options for alternate foods. I have been gluten & dairy free for over 3 years and find that I am finally thinking that my immune system is healing and I am finally feeling more energy. I feel like it took a lot of detective work to figure it all out though. Keep seeking answers and making healthy choices to feel better. emoticon

It's a complicated and many tenacled disease. I too, am still having issues. Maybe it is time for me to get allergy tested for foods. I keep getting unexplained rashes, etc.

Oh and check your shampoo and conditioner. I was using a brand called Hemp and they both had wheat.

I also have a very week immune system and have to be real careful in where I go and who I am around. Having a week immune system often goes along with am autoimmune disease. It is very common for you to have more then one. Another thing to look at is dairy. Either the lactose or the Casein in it could still be making you sick. Also, if you are eating oats, you might be one of the .7% of Celiacs that still react to the gluten in the oats. I am one of those and it made it even harder when they pulled the oats off the gluten containing list and now a lot of gluten free products have oats in them so I even have to read the labels on foods labeled gluten free.

Yes and not only the binders, I was fooled by one that had wheat and barley grass but it was listed up higher with all the other stuff. I never scrutinize the amounts of everything I just look at the basics and then the fillers. WRONG! Read every single line item!!

I would check the binders in your multivitamin, might contain gluten.

8 hours of sleep a night? More and more research shows sleep really impacts us.

Other stressors?

I am only a year into this but I too have a weaker immune system than most. I take my probiotics and supplements and eat 90% organic. I too am getting checked regularly for deficiencies and have had to give up dairy.

One of the issues with Celiac Disease is long term immune problems. I was told when I was diagnosed 3 years ago that I needed to have food allergy testing done and that I needed to take digestive enzymes, probiotics and Vitamin C with bioflavinoids to help my body deal with immune weakness from gluten's effect on my digestive system. I too seemed to get sick more than the average and once I made changes to my diet and added in these supplements as support I am now more in the normal range. I am allergic to dairy, eggs and bananas as well as gluten and didn't begin to feel better until I was off of all of these. Our immune system is so complex and needs a lot of TLC. Keep searching until you feel all better!

Hi and welcome to the team. Just give your body time to heal and if you don't get better then look at other foods to see if they are causing the problems

Welcome Jess! emoticon
When I was tested I was allergic to almonds, cashews. peanuts, barley. Cow's milk, wheat, wheat gluten and yeast. Lots to look for in the ingredients.
Maybe you have some other allergies also.

Thanks for replying! I had an endoscopy to diagnose back in 2003, but haven't had any tests as invasive since. My bloodwork always includes tests to check levels and so far I have been coming up good. My dr. in New York was much more well versed in Celiac than my current... may be time to switch. Thanks for the heads up re: vitamins and minerals - I'll be sure to ask my Dr. to include those in my workup.

Jess have you had any tests done since your diagnosis? I was tested to see if I was still getting gluten-and yes it showed that some was in my system-not much though. Also I asked for tests to see if I was defecient in vitamins and minerals. Found a list that showed the most prevelent ones. And yes there could be more than one problem. Have heard that autoimmune diseases sometimes are likely to come together. ex. Hashimoto or Diabetes are common with Celiac. Does your Dr. have much experience with Celiac?

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Celiac about 6 years ago. I've been really strict on the diet since but I've noticed I still seem to get sick a lot more than my peers at school and now my coworker. I try to eat really healthfully, I take a multivitamin every day and I'm fanatical about washing hands, sterilizing my desk, etc.

I know that the villi renew themselves, so there shouldn't be that kind of lasting effect, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I was most likely diagnosed years after I developed celiac as I had symptoms that didn't seem to connect at the time.

Should I be looking into cutting out any other food groups?

Thanks so much in advance!
Jessica
