Thank you all! It's so nice to know I have a place to go to if I'm not sure. I will stay clear of MSG and now that I know Lipton has changed, I found a recipe for homemade onion soup mix. Have a great day!

My diet has become limited and very definitely Clean, but I make everything from scratch.

It's really not that hard once you get it figured out.
And it's easier than trying to figure out and avoid all the junk they put into preprepared foods!

it's so frustrating!

This is a subject that gets me going. Here is a good link about MSG and its hidden forms.

http://www.truthinlabeling.org/

It upsets my whole system. Thirty to 35% of the protein in wheat is glutamic acid, so many people who are particularly sensitive to wheat may also be very sensitive to glutamic acid.

Glutamic acid is a non essential amino acid that works as an excitatory neurotransmitter in our nervous systems. For those of us that are sensitive it becomes an excitotoxin and has been implicated in many nervous system diseases like strokes, Alzheimers, autism and epileptic seizures. Look it up on Wikipedia for more info.

From everything I have read MSG if made in America is "suppose" to be gluten free. Anywhere else it is not. Personally I won't take the chance, even if the company say's it is safe. The G in MSG stands for Gluten, and I know it affects me so I stay away from it, no waiving on this one. That is also why I can not have 99% of sausages on the market today, and being polish kills me, but I won't chance, because I know it affects.

Just like they said, it is a toxic substance and all people need to keep away form it.

Dorothy

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

I second the toxicity of MSG, but also wanted to confirm that you're right: barley has gluten, and is a no-no for us.

I made that mistake when I bought a touted "wheat-free" nature's path cereal, that i later found out was sweetened with barley malt. WHYYYY????

With the Lipton soup it was GF but in the last couple of months was reformulated to add barley. if you're lucky you might be able to find old boxes in the store(probably in the clearance area).

I am confused a bit with "MSG". I am not sure if that is something I need to stay away from. Also, someone said Lipton Soup Mix was GF; but I see Barley as an ingredient. Any suggestions or help with these two topics would help greatly. Thanks!
