I am not celiac, but have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, asthma, arthritis, chronic sinusitis (sound familiar?). All part of the autoimmune dysfunction gig, I guess. I kind of want to say, be glad if the gluten makes you ill, because I don't know if I've eaten something until a general fatigue and ache start, often a day or two later. Then I end up sick for a while. Stupid body! Wait - that WAS my motto, I'm supposed to be learning to LOVE my body! (sigh) I do want you to know I feel much better, less flares for shorter duration when I have eaten GF for a while. It is so worth it to feel like a human being again, and maybe have a life!

There is a wealth of information here and we help each other so don't be afraid to ask a question if you don't see it covered.

Welcome! It is a very sad thing at first. I had a hard time accepting that the sub I had 3 months before was the last one. I gave up a lot trying to lose weight, and now that is it! But I was SO ill I won't go back, and get so ill from accidental things I can't imagine. Amazing how one gets so used to feeling bad you don't even know you do...

I recommend you look up all you can...Celiac.com has a lot of food lists and articles I found helpful. Read all you can and look at the recipes and topics on here. Udi's products are generally a favorite...

Hi! Sorry to say....but, welcome to my world! The bad thing about eating @ IHOP is...(ready for this?) they put pancake batter in the eggs! I have learned to ASK about EVERYTHING I eat. Carry on as I learned to eat gluten free thru trys at what I thought was ok to eat. Usually in about 30 minutes after I eat something, I know if I made the right choice. After 7 months of trials, I am a much better judge of what is allowed. Hang in there as this does get easier to work with.

Welcome to the team! It is SO worth the time to figure out how to eat gluten free - and enjoy it! I like being pain free. After a while you find new favorite foods and usually eat in a more healthy way. I'm splurging tonight with a gluten and dairy free Amy's pizza. Usually I stick to plain protein, fruits and vegetables and some grains such as quinoa. You can do it! It sounds like you have a good start - even finding out that it does make a difference to eat gf!

Gretings all!
New to SPARKS and the Board. Im newly diagnosed gluten-intolerant kinda gal. This is a severe learning and acceptance curve for me. Im a whole-wheat-health-nut bread, pasta, cookie, packaged food kinda Gal. Im also a Registered Nurse. Therefore, I know absolutely NOTHING. I slept through nutrition, and ignored literature related to foods, allergies, and autoimmune disorders. We have NO history of bonafide food allergies in my family.

Have everything else though. Asthma. Arthritis. Cancer. Endometriosis. Sinusitis. Diverticulitis. and now....{drumroll please}...GLUTEN-INTOLERANCE.

Lord this is HORRIBLE! Im an Old-Fart learining New Tricks. Need all the help I can get.

I am currently embarking on a complete "detox" program of all things gluten, packaged, and processed. I had been seriously eating Gluten Free for the last 2 weeks. Yesterday, went to IHOP with Hubby and had cheese crepes. And a Cafe Mocha. Last night I think my body produced Battery Acid or Lava. Im not sure.

Im a believer.
