I came across a couple of my saved links, so I thought I'd add to this topic.

(That's interesting Illiniteacher, I wonder if the Vit D has something to do with calcium and magnesium ratios. Grandmother was likely swimming in the ocean on sunny days?)

Very informative - thanks! My nails are always stronger in the summer. I wonder if that has anything to do with getting more sunshine/vitamin D. My grandmother said her nails were stronger when she went swimming in the ocean every day.

I collect this type of info in my Gee Whiz health files - this one's great Jen - great pics. I always associated zinc deficiency with white spots. In fact, I had one in December when I got zinc deficiency results as low. I can't say I remember hurting it, but I thought it was interesting.

My mom's nails changed with her lung cancer diagnosis - clubbed, but not all fingers and not as bad as the pics. Maybe it was the chemo ... can't remember now.

After my diagnosis I had "Beau's Lines" on my big toenails. I kept asking my friend who was diagnosed w/CD months later if she had them, and she didn't. FWIW, I have Marsh Class III villi damage (not sure I'm saying that correctly.)

I always knew that nails were an indicator of health but not what to look for. I just saw a link to this article and thought it was interesting what our nails say about ourselves. Sprue is mentioned on one of the examples and auto-immune, digestive and many others in other examples. mrishaanshareef.blogspot.com/2008/10
