How much high fructose corn syrup and other strongly sweet additives are in your diet? When I removed these sweets from my calorie count, the depth and frequency of the hunger and anxiety were reduced too. The commercial food industry has researched this phenomenon thoroughly; you may be affected by this deliberate trait.

Yeah just do the best you can as long as you stay GF. It should get better on it's own when you heal, so hopefully this is short term.

I already drink about a gallon of water and fruit makes me hungry (I have glucose issues), but thank you for the suggestion.

I think yesterday went better then the other days. I felt like I was constantly eating though. Right before bed I got pretty hungry so I made myself a salad. That worked. I'll get the hang of it sooner or later. I did go over my calories, though. I need to focus on being gluten free more then the calories.

Drink some water and eat an apple real slowly, they fill you up. Get the granny smiths they have less sugar in them and they are a hard apple.

OMG I was constantly hungry in the beginning! It has calmed down now after about a month and a half GF (minus accidental exposures). I still eat more than other people do but it is easier to manage. I probably eat something every 2 or 3 hours on work days and on my days off I can go longer. The best advice I got on this was the heatlhy fat and protein, and eating lots of veggies.

Granola usually has oats but trail mix is usually a mixture of nuts and fruit. (You do still have to be careful to read the ingredients). I make my own trail mix with nuts (walnuts, almonds and macadamia nuts) and dried fruit such as dried cranberries. Sometimes I add some gf chocolate chips.
The key to staying full is to have enough protein and healthy fats at the beginning of the day and protein at each meal.

Interesting, the trail mixes I've paid attention to since going GF (three months ago) either have no questionable items (i.e., my current one is all nuts or dried fruits, all organic, no preservatives even), or the only questionable/off limit ingredient they contain is soy sauce. I *am* exclusively looking at the bulk trail mixes available in the natural foods section at my grocery store.

I usually grab plain or roasted whole almonds when I am famished. I am curious as to the "trail mix" you are eating. Is it GF? Most trail mixes contain oats (not certified gluten-free) or other gluten items within them. Sometimes dates are coated with a starch (wheat-based) to keep them from sticking together. Be cautious. Read every ingredient.

I found the same thing - hungry A LOT. I've started doing the 6 small (low calorie) meals. It helps. I have two eggs (poached) for breakfast, a small handful of trail mix around 10:30, a salad with protein for lunch, more trail mix around 3, and a regular dinner.

I find I'm eating less at dinner than I used to, and I'm rarely ravenous before a meal (like I used to be :) )

I'm still learning all the healthy ways to do this but I think alot of is about what your eating and how much of it your eating. Portions have a huge impact on how you feel and all.

Today is day 7 for me so I've still got tons of questions.

Is it normal to be so hungry all the time? I seem to fill up easily, but in no time I seem to be hungry again.
