Thank you! I've been completely GF for about 3 weeks now (only partially prior), and just now am I starting to feel less itchy (all over my scalp). I've tried using various cortisone creams, which I have onhand for my eczema, but they aren't working. Haven't thought of using coal tar...my mom used to use it for her psoriasis! I remember that smell...
I forgot to add since I have gone GF and it cleared up I have had a couple of small outbreaks but only on the back of my right hand and didn't itch much. I'd say the 1st took about a month but it was a couple of months after the original clearing up, the 2nd was just a few spots and was I think just a couple of spots.
When I was at my worst it took about 2 weeks, but at that time I was told just not to have wheat and wasn't told I had CD. Now when I have a break out it is usually better in a few days. I have to struggle not to itch or it takes longer. I can't remember the name of the itch medicine I have used, but it has cold tar and it is wonderful.
I went GF about this time last year I can't remember the exact date but it was late Sept/early October. The itching started lessoning within days but didn't completely clear till mid/late Dec. I was snowed in my house for 2 weeks ending 12/26 and towards the end I realized that I hadn't scratched my legs in a few days. The scars didn't clear until March-ish. The rash starts on the back of my right hand but covered my legs, hiney and arms but my legs were worse. I'd just sit there and rake my legs till they bled.
