Don't forget RUM! Rum is not distilled from any gluten products. Remember to stay away from the flavored ones unless you check with the manufacturer to make certain the flavor does not contain any gluten. Since I can't have flavors, I don't worry about it. Oh Captain, my Captain...
I love adding Captain Morgan Spiced Dark Rum (all natural) to a blender of banana/berry smoothies on Friday after work. I get my fruit, add some flax, and a nice rum flavor too.

Hi! Here is what I just got back from Mikes regarding their lemonaids. Since I can't puke and thats my first response, I'm thinking I may still stay away from them. As for everyone else, if you can drink them, then cheers! :)
Hey there Teddi,
Thanks so much for writing in!
Mike's products available in the US are lemon clear malt based (fermented barley beer malt) beverages. Highly sensitive tests from an independent lab analysis indicate that mike's products do not contain any traces of gluten protein, (including hordein). Our malt is fermented and it is then further processed using a highly technical and proprietary, multi stage filtration process. However, our products are bottled in multiple sites that produce other malt beverages. We cannot guarantee complete absence of gluten contamination from other products run on the same equipment.
Cheers,
Mike's Consumer Relations

Not a lot of coke - just a shot glass full. Lots of milk though. Just be careful the milk doesn't sour when being added

I did hear back from Kahlua. It is GF. Yahoo. I can still have my tequila paralyzers. That's the most important for me.

I have absolutely nothing to help you, but I did notice something a bit odd about the bars I bought. They are Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Peanut Butter flavor, and made from rolled oats. However, they list a "crisp rice with soy protein," which contains malt. Linda C

I always forget to mention this site when we discuss alcohol. www.glutenfreedrinks.com is awesome. They have actually written to companys asking them if their beverages are safe or not. the Mike's Bar tab has tons of info, great drink ideas and all the info on what you can and can't have. I did write Mike's. I'll keep ya posted!

Jeff, my Jack Daniels guy, told me its a malted beverage. he's not a celiac expert, but he based his information for me off of what I told him I could and couldn't have. I've been to scared to try since getting contaminated is SOOOO hard on me. I'll stick to my wine, rum and Cosmo's! I guess you could try thier website. I bet they'ed respond!

Whiskeys are fine, they are distilled, which kills the gluten. Ciroc vodka is made from grapes. its pricey but really good. Most vodkas are ok,, they're distilled. When you get into malt whiskeys and the girly beer drinks like most wine coolers, mikes hard lemonade, etc, then those are off limits. I used to work a lot with our local Jack Daniels rep at my old job and he was very well versed in what goes into lots of different alcohols. Wine should be fine, all though I know for myself and a few others that red wine casues us to break out in a horrible red rash. it doesn't itch, but looks terrible. I was told by my internest that its the sulfites. They are higher in reds than whites or blushes. California Coolers are a great light wine cooler that are made simply from fruit and wine. Good luck!

I have heard that hard liquor, including whiskey, because of the distilling process, which removes the gluten proteins, is actually gluten free. I have not had a reaction to whiskey yet. I drink it several times a week.

is safe thank goodness!!!
There are specific Gluten Free Beers... New Grist, Red Bridge are two. There are more.
I really do not drink hard liquor anymore, so not sure. But most whiskeys are fermented bran mashes so those would NOT be okay.
If you know what it derived from, that would tell you. Like Gin comes from juniper berries, but not sure if there is anything else?
Some vodka is fermented from potatoes, that might be fine.
I think your best bet is to contact the maker of what you are looking for and ask them. And while you are at it, ask for the nutritional information to boot!

What alcohols are safe to drink when on a gluten free diet? I almost never drink, but would like to occasionally enjoy one once in a while still. I love tequila paralyzers, but do not know about the khalua?
Does anyone know for sure what is okay, and what to avoid?
