Very true!!! My beer consumption is way down, which is a good thing, since I cannot drink what I really want to. Well I suppose I could.. but I start burping 1/4 of the way thru it.. loud burps.. and lots of them!

emoticon so just my Bud Light on a hot afternoon here or there.

LOL, I am pretty picky about my beers. I use to add limes to cheerleader beer to make them at least drinkable if I had no choice. I figure, why waste calories on a beer if you aren't going to like it?

no clue....I won't touch the stuff. I never liked it when I could drink real beer.

Melissa, do you know if Corona is brewed from rice? hmmmm maybe there was a reason I was pulling for the Corona yesterday over the GD 64!

Sorry emoticon I know I am lucky to just be wheat intolerant.

I SO love micro brewery beers.. I was really into wheat beers too.. the more the better. And Wheat bread.. never did white bread. sigh.

But nevertheless, this GF diet has helped me tremendously to lose weight! I can look at brownies, cookies, cake, donuts, etc and NOT be interested! The pain I will be in from eating them is not worth the enjoyment IMO.

My interest in eating better led me here to SP!

I know people who are gluten intolerant who can drink corona. Personally, I always preferred the micro brewery beer. Redbridge (another GF beer) to me tastes like cheerleader beer. I will stick with my New Grist and Bards. I like to see the other brands that I can ask for now too. I printed it out and will take it into my favorite liquor store.

Thanks Montanahippy. I am wheat gluten intolerant. Malt does not appear to bother me thankfully.

The market is starting to get larger for GF beers thankfully.. what I want to happen now is a light version of the GF beers.. but I know I'll wait a long time for that!

Not to be a downer BAILEYS7OF9 but you might be cautious of Bud Light. Your right, there is rice in it, however there is also Malt Barley. My husband and I just recently toured the Budweiser factory in Ft Collins. We also grow malt bareley for Coors, so I had the opportunity to ask Mr. Coors himself (the son) when they will come out with a GF beer, he told me there isn't a market big enough. That was 5 years ago at our Coors Field Days, hopefully they are working on something now! i"m glad you don't get sick, I'm very jealous, but I do know they use barley and rice. Good luck!

Have not, but would be willing! I was really good yesterday and did NOT have a Corona, though it was tempting!!!

I lucked out as I can handle Bud Light as it is brewed with rice and it is not as expensive as the GF beers are.

It's summer... beer is just easier than red wine!

hmmmm....I will have to check my local liquor store that I buy my GF beer from. If it is from WI, I should be able to get in here in MN

I drink the bards that was mentioned in the second link. Yummy! I keep a six pack on hand.....but it takes me a long time to drink it.....months

I have Grist beer and I enjoy it. i can get it at one of the bars nearby. I was not impressed by Red Bridge at all. Yuck. It reminded me of what I like to call Cheerleader beer (miller, bud, Coors, etc).

My favorite GF beef so far has been Bard's Tale Dragons Gold sorghum beer. It tasted like the microbreweries that I had loved.

The price was something like $6.99-$7.99....I don't really remember. But I bought the 6 pack last fall and still have one left. I don't drink beer often, but it is nice once in a while.

That's what I pay for RB now, so that's not to bad. I always joke that my beer is the cheapest "hippie" food I buy! :)

I believe it was $7.99 for a 6 pack bottles. They treat it like imported beer basically. I believe Red Bridge is a little less expensive, then it also depends on the stores too.

And it only comes in 6 packs so far.

I like it better than Redbridge. It is more of a Pale Ale.

Good luck when it gets your way!!!

Now if we can only get a better price tag on it too!

Too bad its not available in Montana! No big suprise, but really to bad. Redbridge is ok, I really enjoy a good red beer now and then with baby dill pickles and lowery's seasoning salt, but a new beer would be nice. Good thing I'm an even bigger fan of wine! I did write them and ask about shipping some my way, keep your fingers crossed!

Hi all,

Not that we should be drinking beer regularly, but every now an then right?

Not sure if you have had the chance to try New Grist, it is brewed in Milwaukee, WI and is not too bad.

I contacted them for the information and they sent it so I created it and shared it for everyone. It is under

New Grist (gluten free beer) 12 oz

Sigh.. at 179 calories, I think I'll stick more to wine! Hoping they come out w/ a lite gluten free beer soon!
