Dots, I lost it by eating better, tracking my calories faithfully and honestly. It doesn't do any good to track calories if you aren't going to enter everything you put in your mouth. I found once I started counting bites it made a big difference. Also I added daily exercise and sometimes this was hard because I didn't want to. When I say I am on top of it, I am a person who weighs daily and if I see it stays 1-2 lbs higher for several days I know it isn't just water or such and work at lowering my calories until it is back off or exercising just a little more. Right now I am having issues in that I have to keep working on that same 1-2 lbs.

I found out fall of '07 that I needed to get off gluten but didn't take it too seriously since I'm so fat and everything I read said that celiacs were deathly thin. But I gave myself to new year to eat gluten foods. After the New Year got better but would reward myself of eating what I thought was GF for say a week by going to Quizno's.
Then in May I got a minor rash on the back of my hand and didn't think much of it then July-ish my elbows and knees started itching something fierce, it took a while but finally found that it was DH. Thats when I took it all seriously. I know what gluten does to my insides is worse then what was happening to my skin but I do have a small bit of vanity in me. It took a few months and I beleive being snowed into my house so all I could eat was GF food it finally cleared up.
I joined Spark People late July '08.
Within a few weeks of going GF I lost 10-15 lbs of pure inflammation. I have continued to lose and up to(or is it down) a total of 23lbs.
I'm still not really exercising except for my weekly bowling league.

I lost the bulk in 2007, then I got in my "comphI" weight. My thyroid making it hard to lose. But I'm hanging in there. I won't give up and I will lose the last 30 lb or so. I work out (including playing field or indoorhockey) 5 times a week. about 300 min a week or more again including hockey. I don't eat less I work harder. I love sports I must ad. Always was a bit of a jock and I do have the build for it.
The test was biking on a set RPM with a set resitence for a fixed time. It raised my HR to 112 ... my normal workout HR for cardio is about 142 everage for a bit of sweat, 152 for a great sweat ... above 165 when I'm killing myself (loving it) I'm overweight and extreemly fit LOL

I know there are people in this group who've done amazing things - looking for the common theme in their efforts, if there is one (eat better, eat less, exercise more?!)

Poekster (Tess) - you lost the bulk of your weight last year, yes? How much and WHY'dya think? Did you change up your diet more than you exercised? I know you exercise a lot - how many hours/week?
emoticon on your fitness achievements! What's on the test?

TBDonna - emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon .

So HOW did you lose it? And what does it mean when you're "on top" of a 1 lb weight gain? What do you do different?

That is a mouthful of question. emoticon Since last Mar. 08 I have lost 13 lbs. My goal for the year is 15 so I feel I can achieve that yet. I attribute my accomplishments first to my Lord, for without him I am nothing. Second Sparks has been great, but without knowing you Dot personally I probably wouldn't be doing as well as I do in trying to stay GF. OK give yourself a big pat on the back and a big, big hug from me. emoticon emoticon

I am sure I am healthier in that I am off of methadone as a source of pain management. I would still like to get down to 135 but if I can hold 140 at my age, I will be glad. I have done much better in my yo-yoing this year. When I notice I gain a lb I am right on top of it to get it off.

How would you say your last year went? How much healthier do you feel and what changes did you make? How much weight did you lose? What are your other accomplishments? To what do you attribute your accomplishments? Or share whatever you want, including questions.

Let's be encouraging for newbies.
