My DH has had high potass before, but not always. He also has high BUN and creatinine - has since I married him. He has high bp, too (his mom was celiac btw).
How many grain carbs do you eat daily? I've read lowering grain carbs helps with bp. However, I "did" think of kidneys when you brought up potassium because of DH. (I "think" I've finally diagnosed him. He hasn't had his phosphorus tested (serum and urine), so I want him to talk to doc about that one.) Have you had urine tests at all? Serum magnesium? How much water do you drink? How's your calcium and vitamin D? Parathyroid hormone? These are things brought up with DH and SIL (who has kidney problems and is obese). www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analy
Best to you while you get this figured out. Let us know how it goes.
P.S. DH has gout also (so does his uncle, and another uncle died young-mid40s- of heart attack), so I read up a bit on it: saw this and thought of you cause it mentioned high bp: bewell-naturally.blogspot.com/2006/06/high
