Yes Ravioli!!! It was fantastic and it's my favorite too.
The website for the group who organized it is
you should be able to find a contact person there for help in organizing one in your area.
Duckiess -- the food fair was in Farmington at a church. The only way I found out about it was from the website above (it's a local support group). The Italian restaurant that was there was Guilio's in Livonia. They're hosting a 5 course GF Italian dinner May 19th, but you need to call ahead for reservations.

The Denver chapter of the Celiac Sprue Assn is having one on June 14th. Last year's had about 400 attendees and many vendors, give aways, and samples. I wasn't part of the planning group, but you would need to contact local stores and vendors of gf products and ask them to come represent themselves or donate products. Some of the non-local vendors of gf foods sent food as samples and then you just need a local group volunteer(s) to hand it out. You can get local restaurants that have gf menus to come as well, or provide a copy of their gf menu that you can put in a packet to hand out that day. We did a raffle and gave away many donated items.
Great idea to increase community awareness! Makes me want to round up some local Celiac friends and see what we can put together with the local merchants, media, etc. Is there any way to obtain more info on how this was organized, who participated, media response, how long it took to come together, etc? Thanks for sharing.

The local celiac support group here in Michigan just put on a GF Food Fair this weekend and it was great! A bunch of local and not-so-local vendors came out with samples and lots of food to buy. There was even an Italian restaurant that was there! (it was so good to have ravioli again!)
This was such a fantastic event - I hope other places can put together something like this for celiacs and GF intolerant people all over.
