i have been doing ok with strength training. some weeks i have only been getting in 2 sessions instead of 3. but i am not quitting and when it is time for a short section i have been using heavier weights. even if i dont get 3 full sessions i am going to keep going,

I want to start adding more strength training to my normal exercise. my routines have been unfocused and low in intensity. i think i need to find a specific plan instead of just winging it.

So I just had a chat with my oldest son and he left me broken hearted...All my kids are special needs and different kinds of problem one being learning disabilities so my oldest comes to me and says mom I probably won't go to college because I know I'm not smart OMG I almost fell out my chair I started crying and continue to cry as I type this....He says mom I know I was born with drugs in my system and it messed up my brain and I can't learn like other kids I just cried and with tear rolling down my face I explained to him how that works that you're not dumb you're not stupid and you're not at fault for how you learn you simply learn differently from other kids maybe not at the pace but you learn....I'm so proud of my son this is the one who wan't to be a culinary chef and he's amazing with his art work....He thinks because he can't find a job he must be stupid I'm in tears telling him no way is that right....and explained it's hard for adults without problems to get a job it's not you and that your time will come....Then he told me that he's being pressured to make money the illegal way and I'm so glad that he came to me with it....I'm a little overwhelmed by all this any suggestion on what else I can share with him to make his self esteem rise

Hello all how is everyone doing today.....I officially got my foster care license in the mail today so I'm super happy I love children once my friend said I need to get a life and I told her this is my life this is what I'm called to do...children need so much love and support and I want to be there to help I wish I could save them all but I can't....but it would be nice if I could so those that come my way I try to affect their lives in a positive way the best I can....that's what is important to me that's my mission in life.....My mom always told us as kids to live our lives in service to others and I feel like I'm doing that

Although I usuallly do just Zumba, I have tried a new Bollywood workout. So far, I've done a few workouts to Bollywood with Hemelayaa. This one below is a 16 minutes workout and a good one.

It's been really cold lately so my dh is not walking outside a night. i am tryign to talk him into doing one of my workout videos. i have not had any luck so far. but maybe i can get him to to a 10 minute video if i keep trying. I love exerciing, but i have been having issues with the pc i use. it has been crashing on some of my videos, but i keep doing them anyway,

Hey everyone!

Hasn't been much activity here in quite some time.

I'm still doing pretty good. Have managed to keep off all that I lost, still have about 30 or so to go, but have kept under 170.

Doing a new workout plan that I received from hubby for Christmas baladea and so far I really like it. The workouts are a bit longer than what I've been used to but I think that is one of the good things about it. It was definitely time to up the workouts in order to keep losing.

Alright. I've been away from this team for a LONG time because I really couldn't do much training last year after an injury. BUT I'm back in the game! I have a challenge going on in another team and I'm going to find the time to train 4-5 days a week. And I'll post my workouts here. Hold me accountable!

I have done the apple Shape workout on Jessica Smith. i really need to do more strength training and increase my intensity. i am really good with the low- mid intensity for 30-60 minutes. i struggle to workout with harder moves. i tend to make excuses why i cant do harder moves ratuer then giving it my all.

Not feeling very motivated to move today. Seems like theres too much that needs to be done. Feeling a little overwhelmed. Gonna use my timer to fix that. I decided to move my bedroom to the small bedroom, I mean really small, small small. But I like it, feels more cozy. I moved my office from small room to big room and set up other half as my home gym area. Now I just have to organize it. ugh

Jessica Smith is such a fun goofball. she is not afraid to be imperfect or silly in an exercise video. i find them on you tube and i thing she did some 10 minute solution videos as well. Regardless it is important to jsut find a video and start doing it.

Imreite - not sure what site you have been using but I frequent JessicaSmithTV.com and she has a slew of free videos on her site from beginner to advanced and of course youtube has so many also. It can be difficult to find just the right ones that you don't mind doing. Also half.com has pre-owned videos that you can buy at a substantial discount a lot of times.

i found out some of my favoirite exercise videos were removed from the website that let me play them for free. i guess i will have to find some new ones or put a crowbar in my wallet and buy them. i think i may check back with my local library instead and keep looking online at spark, exercisetv, BeFit and fitnessblender. that and also keep doing some of the videos i already have in my collection.

Still not feeling 100%. i did some circuit strenght training. the ab section was killer. normally it is not so bad but i have not been able to do crunches and bicycles for the last weeks because i was couging so much. i am not on a prescription medicine so that helps with the energy.

Sinuses are killing me today. Blowing my nose a lot and sneezing. Took something for them over an hour ago. I'm hoping that I get them cleared before Wednesday. Dad has a colonoscopy on that day and I don't think that I can concentrate on what's going on dad. I may stay home while dad goes for his colonoscopy (his youngest brother takes him). I'm hoping to get some more sinus medicine before then so I can start feeling better. I also had some organic herbal tea (tropical hibiscus) with plenty of lemon items in it so I can get this cleared up. I'm starting to feel tired even though I've taken a Vitamin B12 this morning.

Good Morning All,

Hope everyone is having a good month. Mine is so-so, I'm maintaining, getting most of my workouts in (I was a little under the weather for a bit so had to miss some) and my eating seems to be fairly under control.

Working on the house this weekend to get it 'holiday-ready', then back on the road again next weekend for bowling tournament my son is in.

Sorry I disappeared for awhile...went straight from executing my 13 yr old daughter's birthday party to planning and executing my 5 yr old daughter's birthday party on the 26th. Busy month and I have vanished from everything including my hobbies *laughs.* It was worth it though; she is still gushing over it. :)

Great job Leslie! I too had a 'tough point' that I couldn't get over, but once I got over that terrible number, it was easier. I hope that it is the same way for you. It gave me hope and I was so happy to get over that number, that it gave me the push I needed to continue loosing weight.

Janet - Sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope things change for her.

Imrette - I hope you get to feeling better soon, this thing has been really hanging on. I would definitely try some other form of workouts until you can get past the congestion. It is so frustrating having a coughing fit every time you get going.

Mimi - Great to have you here. I hope your cramps are better this morning.

My workouts are going well, however, that challenge that I decided to do is very advanced. I do still use it as a guide and try to pick things that are equal on a little lower level. See if it is cardio/strength/both and then choose whatever videos I think will be close. I finally got my weight under 170!!! But it was only by an ounce or two so hopefully it won't go back up next Friday. But I was still really excited.

Leslie - Good Luck! You seem to do good on challenges like this one. Better modifying them to meet your needs than to hurt yourself or get discouraged. For me they are more of a guide to follow than having to do them exactly.
Mum will be in town shortly so I might check it out and see if she is interested. She has bad health, and not interested in changing that fact so it worries me. I want her kicking around for many years, but her health keeps getting worse.

First day of my 5-week workout program. Found a 5-week Summer Shape-Up Challenge on Jessica Smith. I know its not summer, however, this will bring me to Thanksgiving week, so thought it would be a perfect time to start it.

Day one, I had to swap out a workout because one of them was too advanced for me. But that's ok. I got in a good arm workout and a great cardio.

Trying to keep eating on track all this week, including eating my 5 fruits and veggies every day. No plans to go out of town for a while so hopefully I will be able to keep things on track for the most part until the holidays.

Hope everyone's week has started out on a good note.

@janet do you take measurements? They always helped me take guess work out. If the scale is going up but the measurements stay the same or go down, its likely muscle. Water, or a big meal makes a difference too. I know if we go out to eat and I don't get off the lighter side menu my weight will go up 2lbs and stay for a day or 2

Today we're going to be busy. Dad has 2 appointments in 2 different towns. This morning with his chiropractor and this afternoon with his cardiologist.

Still need to boost my energy with this week being busy. Got 2 more appointments that dad has this week. One tomorrow and one Friday. I'm going to try something this morning before my dad gets up for the day.

So sorry to hear about your health ladies. It seems that you guys could use some time off to relax and bounce back up.
Leslie – we all have moments like these – what counts and what makes us successful is not that we fail, is that we pick ourselves up after we do. Just be mindful that the ‘holiday’ season is just around the corner and everyone tends to let things slip a bit because of festivities and the cold weather. Try to aim for health and fitness most of the time, so the slips here and there won’t derail your progress as much.
Speaking of which, me and the scale were not in agreement this morning. It seems that I have gained about 4 lbs. I am still in the mid-range of my weight target, but the increase has me wondering. I hate not knowing what it is – is it muscle gain, or is it extra calories? I need to start tracking food more diligently so I can cut the guess work. I have increased my workouts, and I am doing more ST, but I do not think it is significant to increase my weight; which leads me to believe that it is extra calories and fats. emoticon

Energy is back to normal but wish that it was higher especially with tomorrow through Friday being so busy.

24 years ago today my grandmother (my dad's mom) passed away and my 8 years ago today my mom passed away. It doesn't seem possible that its been that long since they passed away.

Today is my cousin's birthday (my dad's youngest brother's oldest daughter).

i have been fighting a cold for about 3 weeks now. it is mostly gone but i still get coughing fits. it is frustrating because i get tired fast, lose focus because i cough at inopportune times. i also cant ecxercise with a lot of intensity. forget ab work on the ground. everytime i lay done that tickle starts in my chest or throat. have a paid day off. hope to do a few easy tasks and do some things i enjoy.

Feel your pain, Renee. Iron count this weekend has been WAYYY down. "That time" this weekend and I go it heavy, so I have to take iron supplements. While the kids have been visiting the Grandparents this weekend, I was able to get one Zumba workout in and go to my Sister-In-Law's baby shower, and that's been it. Otherwise I was sleeping and my husband manning the household for me, bless his heart. Energy level was ZERO. :(

I managed to reach my target mileage for my long runs and that high stayed with me all day. Now I am gearing up for another great, healthy week.

Finally got one software that my brother bought for a computer we had added onto the laptop. I uninstalled the one that we had on the laptop and added the one that we had. I'm glad that happened because I can use it for whenever we go to Minnesota or Ohio.

You are right Janet, I was so worn out. But I am feeling great today, its actually been a while since I have felt this good. Think being sick may have been coming on for a little while before it hit. Sometimes that is really the only way I get the rest I really need though.

Renee, sounds like you are really enjoying that laptop! I needed something a little smaller to take with us to baseball, football (for cheerleading and band), chorus, etc. for pictures and things so I got a nice little tablet (just came today) that I am really loving as well. It will also be great when we go out of town again this weekend.

Got a good walking workout in tonight and feel really good and got plenty of water in today also (I can't stomach water when I am not feeling well).

So glad weekend plans changed and we ended up not going out of town, because I got a touch of the stomach bug over the weekend. Found out how to stay on track with eating... LOL. I was pretty much drained all day yesterday, went to work today, but still a little tired. I got on the elliptical for about 15 minutes this evening, didn't push hard just enough to get my body moving since I was feeling a little better. Going to bed early tonight and should be pretty close to normal tomorrow.

Hope you all get to feeling better soon and get some energy back.

We were sitting in the office this afternoon and it started getting dark and then a huge downpour for about 30 minutes now just a steady rain but can still hear thunder a little farther away. Must just be that kind of week. However, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and 75, going to love that.

Decided to hold off on the amusement park for two weeks, the kids were all fine with it so I will be working on my housework instead (I hate housework lol). Hopefully my eating will be better as well since I will have no excuse.

Getting rain here too, Renee. Kind of shocked me; wasn't even expecting it then walked out this morning to the freezing temps and a storm. Not a pleasant morning. :(

That's been me all week, Imreite. This cold has knocked me out of my normal cardio/strength training. Walking during lunch break it about it; anything else gets to wait until week. :(

my workouts have been very weak this weak. I have been fighting an illness and am having trouble breathing. intense cardio is not possible. i tried 1 night, i paid for it the next day.

Learning from you girls! I have a very strict 'diet' since my GI system does not tolerate much, so I need healthy food that I can eat. We might be moving at the end of the year, and that has been my one concern since I cannot tolerate greasy food, which is all you find on highways.
I guess the cooler is going to be my friend that week emoticon

Today I am thinking of indoor workouts I can start doing since it is getting darker earlier. I love the outdoors, so I hardly do any indoor workouts.

We did the same thing at DragonCon, Miller. Helps with food costs and lets you know what you're eating. Packed skim milk, what bread, honey nut cheerios, egg whites, smart balance butter, and turkey bacon. Helped us each morning of the trip for a full breakfast and was much better for us. Helps your conscious too LOL.

Thanks guys! It really was very relaxing just hanging out with my husband. I feel refreshed and ready for fall.

My goals for october are to finally get under 170, I am having such a hard time with that. Its not like its 20 pounds, it fluctuates from 171-175. But I am not real hard on myself about it because I am feeling better and have had to buy smaller clothes. Getting ready to get rid of the clothes that are too big, I refuse to keep them around longer than I have to.

September was pretty good all around as far as working out and eating well, but the weekends are always the hardest, I really need to go into them with a different attitude.

We are out of town for the next two weekends. A promised trip to the amusement park with the kids because we have not been in a couple of months (we have yearly passes) and back up to Chattanooga so our oldest can visit a college on Lookout Mountain. So I will NOT treat those as 'mini vacations' or I won't stay on track. I will pack some good food in a cooler to take with me this time and avoid breakfast at the motel because it is all bagels, waffles and muffins. There is a mini fridge so I will bring some fruit and hard boiled eggs for breakfast which will be a huge help.

Night I hope the birthday party is absolutely amazing for your daughter, sounds like it is going to be so much fun!

Tater - Glad you are back on your running more regularly and feeling better!

Let's hope October is a really great month, especially with the holidays right around the corner.

Morning All,
Back to reality today, but had a great time with the hubby in Chattanooga. Not often we can get away with just the two of us and we both really enjoyed it.

Of Course, we ate really bad all weekend so it is lots of fruits and veggies for me the rest of the week. Plus I need to get back on those workouts, that part is always hard when I have missed for more than one day (it was four days... uuggghhh). But I've got this!

Plan to post pics and a video. :) Wanting to send the video to Nathan Fillion, the guy who played Mal in the show, so I planned to film it. :)

We do different themed parties often, but for this one we wanted to make it a big deal for her because she's turning thirteen. It's a milestone, so we figured she deserved a bit of a "to-do." She NEVER asks for anything, down to getting angry at us if we actually spend too much money on her. She's pretty much the Rory Gilmore of the family; very down to earth "I'm going to study my butt off because I want to go to Yale" kind of kid. So throwing her an over the top party I'm proud to say isn't gonna spoil her because goodness knows that child never LETS us do anything over the top for her. Her Sweet 16 is probably gonna be just cake and ice cream at the park if she has her say. LOL.

Tater - hope you are feeling better, nothing worse than a stomach virus, in my opinion. Yes, FY is Oct. 1 - Sept. 30. Most businesses around here are Jan-Dec. But I have been with our company for many, many years and it has always been the same, so I guess I just don't even think about it.

NIght - I agree, sounds like you are going to have a great party for her. My daughter just turned 14 (Sept. 8) and she just wanted money and a shopping trip to the mall with her friend. We had a great "girl" though.

I have to stay very focused this week since we will be out of town for our anniversary at the end of the week. We are going to Chattanooga and there will be plenty of walking, but I'm sure my eating won't be exactly what it should be. Its been six years since we have done something for our anniversary (besides dinner out) so we are really looking forward to it.

Good so far. Planning my daughter's 13th birthday party for next month. We're a Geek/Nerd family to the extreme, if our recent DragonCon trip didn't give that away. So she wanted a Firefly/Serenity themed party this year (Check the show/movie out on Netflix. Well worth it!) So watching that while my daughter gets my mother hooked on the show so she knows what the theme is about when she comes to the party next month. :) I plan on getting caught up on Smallville/Roswell this weekend myself, hopefully having a lazy weekend if I can help it. After of course I take my four year old to the library for a her/Mommy day. :)

Hope everyone's week is going well. MIne has been pretty good as far as eating and workouts, been staying on track all week. Of course, the weekend is coming up, need to go into it with a plan this week and not the Netflix/pizza kinda plan LOL.

Nothing wrong with dad's knee. Just inflammation from the knee replacement surgery 4 years ago next month. Got a cortisone shot to the knee and sees the doctor next month.
