Nothing wrong with dad's knee. Just inflammation from the knee replacement surgery 4 years ago next month. Got a cortisone shot to the knee and sees the doctor next month.

Leslie – Painting with a brush can be hard – I use the rollers and they have different rollers, so I bet one of them will suit you more.
Night – I hope that you can get back into your old routine soon.
Renee – Wishing you get good results for your dad.

Yesterday was a run for me. I was a bit sore from the other workouts so I couldn’t go the full speed I wanted to. I hope you ladies have a great day.

This week has been light on the workout; mostly my walking. Work schedule has been weird; they have me coming in at a very weird hour in the morning, so it has cut into my morning workout. Plus with my mom being in the hospital we have been visiting her every evening, so my evening workouts haven't been happening. It's been walking at work and that has been in. Think I have sneaked in ONE workout during the one day we stayed at home and that was it. Maybe I can get a workout in tonight now. :(

Renee - I hope you get good results from the scan today.

IMREITE - I'm not allowed to paint anymore, I don't know what it is that I do, but I can NOT paint ANYTHING. Not sure how anyone can mess up a flat surface with a brush and color, but I can. But I bet that was a pretty good workout.

Night - You are not the only one. I have tried a few times to run and to like it. I've tried a couple of 5K programs, music, treadmill in front of TV (that's how I use my elliptical and I love that), but nothing works. I just don't like it.

This week has been going well, I am 10 in a row on workouts/activity, everyday has been 30 minutes or more except Saturday which is just a quick 12 minute workout but that is usually my no workout day so I decided on a short one.

Eating is good for the most part, I think I will always have room for improvement on that one though.

Have a great day all!

The mowing is going great, NIGHTSHADEISIS. Can't do it right now because the back yard has standing water from the rain from yesterday and today. Suppose to get more tonight and then more Friday.

Tomorrow dad is getting the results of the bone scan that he had a week ago tomorrow on his right knee. Let's hope that he doesn't have to get it replaced again. He just got the one he has 4 years ago next month.

See I'm runner to your Tae Bo, Tatter...I must be the only one on the planet that doesn't like running. I tried to enjoy it, but I CANNOT get my head around it. At my core I'm a fighter and I just don't know how to be anything else LOL.

How'd the mowing go, Renee? I miss having the yard I did at my old house. It was so big, and it made it so much fun for a push mower. I LOVE doing that. Just plug an iPod into your ears and jam the whole time. And it's such a great and easy workout, and just practically built in strength training! :)

IMREITE, the ladder...*Cringes.* How do those things not scare you? The second they wobble I start squealing like a little girl LOL.

hahaha....there are so many more options - I don't even mind.

Yes, I do like my running - I think I find it the most 'easy'. No sequences, no TV...one foot in front of the other, and I get to do it wherever. Actually I have a love/hate relationship with it.

Happy Tuesday all!

You know I have always wanted to try Tae Bo. I'm a martial artist and Tae Kwon Do is one of the two styles that I have studied for twenty years, so I always figured I would love it. My instructor and his sisters used it at home and seemed to enjoy it, but for some reason I never tried it. I might want to give that a bash...

Janet - I actually prefer to do those kind of workouts (unless the moves are really complicated) I have a bit of a hard time with Zumba, but I still love it. But I just LOVE DVDs, Videos, etc. however, I do not like to go to actual classes. I seem to workout better on my own, but with more structure, like the videos. I find I stick to workouts better this way rather than just using the elliptical, walking or weights on my own.

I have been wanting to checkout at Kickboxing video, so I may take a look at that (thanks for mentioning that LOL). But I could not run like you do :)

So yesterday I whipped one of my TaeBo DVD's out and I remembered why I never do TaeBo. That routine is not for me. I was having a hard time keeping up with the moves and was going all over the place. This happens to me when there is a particular sequence I have to follow. I am OK with some classes, but I have the same problem with my kickboxing class (that's why I never go). Does this happen to any of you?

Twinkie wrapped in bacon and fried?! LOL No I would avoid that like the plague!

I actually had fried food for the first time in MONTHS...chicken nuggets a chick-fill-a. But that was a one time thing. LOL. Not going that route again. Body didn't like it; I've gone too long without fried foods and my body doesn't like the foreign intrusion. :(

Good Morning All,
I have had a GREAT first week of September. Only 1.2 lbs up from my last weigh-in (which was a lot better than I thought it would be). Of course the weekend is here and its our daughter's 14th birthday weekend. Today won't be bad, I'm getting ready to do my workout before I even have my coffee (this is not a usual thing for me) and then we are shopping all day and I'll probably suggest the food court for lunch so I can hit Subway up her and her friend can have whatever they want. Tomorrow will be rough because it is family breakfast at the breakfast buffet (it has become a tradition for birthdays), but I think I can handle it as long as I am careful and get my workout in. And of course we have to have the traditional cake and ice cream, but I think I've got this.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Push mowing a yard that is 89 feet by 130 feet can make you feel sore. I was like that last Friday and this past Sunday when I mowed the yard with the new push mower that we have. I was thinking of mowing the yard if it cooled off. It wasn't cooled off by 7pm so I decided to wait until either tomorrow or the weekend. We got rain this morning and might get some over night. If we do, I will mow the yard this weekend. It needs it again.

Most definitely good sore. The convention spans a six block radius of Atlanta, plus the parade that we normally walk in for the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunters group was increased from one mile to TWO MILES this year. So yeah...good sore. LOL. Got all the exercise in I needed. Skimped on the strength training for my upper body, but the up and down hill of the parade route DEFINITELY covered the lower body that's for sure. :)

Janet - great job on the run yesterday and sounds like healthy eating too!

Ok, here is how September has started out emoticon
You know that whole 'weekend' issue I have, well let's just add in an extra day to make it even BETTER!
I know I've already gained weight that will show on Friday's weigh-in from doing NOTHING (literally) and eating too much for three days.

Ok, vent over, No one to blame but myself! I know I can still reach my goal (get under 170 and stay there), I'm just going to have to work a little hard than I would have if I would have stayed motivated even just a little over the long weekend.

Next step is to make a plan for the rest of the month. I need a serious workout schedule (it seems to be what I need to keep myself on track). So, I've decided to make one using Jessica Smith walking videos from her site. There are some that are geared towards just aerobic and some that have the strength/toning portion in them. So I think I can get a well-rounded month of workouts using those.

I am back to having major issues with the sweets again (sorry, but fruit just doesn't cut it when I want a cookie or candy bar).
emoticon
So I have to figure out a way to just make sure I don't eat my husbands cookies at lunch time (the store-brand of double-stuffed oreos). I have fat-free ice cream which is a huge help when I really want ice cream (and it has minimal cholesterol). I am going to try the chocolate chip trick that another member has told me about and see if that will help with my chocolate issues and I have sugar-free, fat-free pudding and fat-free milk so that will also help (as long as I only eat one serving).

I'll be coming here for support and to give support when anyone needs it!

Let's have a great September!

Hello beautiful people. I hope Labour Day was fun!!!

Had a quick short run this morning, then made a delicious smoothie for breakfast. Even hubby thought so, so it must be good emoticon
I did take a long nap this afternoon - I don't normally do that much.
Getting ready to start up the grill for me and the hubsters.

Our yard needs it again even though I just mowed it yesterday. With the rain that we got yesterday, the grass grew. I might do it tomorrow or Wednesday depending on my mood. Both days are going to be great this week to do that. I just need an excuse to get my big fat butt outside and do something. I need an excuse to get out into the fresh air. When I was younger I couldn't get out when my dad was mowing because of my asthma. Since I have pretty much grew out of it (the occasional but rare asthma attack) I can handle it now. I'm a little sore from yesterday but it isn't the can't move and I'm not going to do anything kind of sore. Its the good kind of sore. I just want to get as much outside time as I can before the cold weather hits us this fall and winter.

I love mowing the lawn, but my husband hates when I do it. I kind of get bored with the back and forth straight lines and like to switch it up as I'm going... front to back for a bit, side to side for a bit LOL.

Well, even though I was not on track as much as I would have liked, I actually did well this month. I am not quite down to my next goal (under 170) but a lot closer than I was so hopefully I can stay on the track I've been on the last couple of weeks (and work on staying more on track on the weekends) and have a great September.

I am so looking forward to this three-day weekend! Hope you all had a great week!

I loved having a push mower; a great extra workout. Well worth skipping a riding mower!

Tat, you get in here and let us give you the proverbial push on a daily basis, lady! We won't let you fall behind. You have came this far and you can keep moving forward if you just keep the get up and go you've maintained so far.

Hello All! Sorry I have been gone for so long.
I need to come here everyday because I get motivation from all of you. I fell off the wagon - HARD. Haven't exercised since Saturday.
Fitness classes start next week, so a couple of those a week should get me going.
What is it with motivation? How can you lose it overnight?

Lost another pound. I went from 209 pounds to 208 pounds. One more pound to go until I'm back to where I was when we got back from Minnesota last month and 13 more pounds until I'm back to where I was before the 32 pound weight gain.

Nice going, Renee! *HUGS!* When you hit that mark you are shooting for...OH it feels so good. Then you set a new goal to hit and a new one....never give up. :) *HUGS!*

Miller, you can totally do this. A schedule will help. I need to re-adjust mine. I WAS getting my morning workout in during the summer, but now instead of getting up at 7 I am getting up at 6:30 to get kids to school, so it cuts into my workout time. I am having to start training myself to get up at 6 to fit my morning workout in BEFORE I wake the kids, so I can get them ready and still have time to get my lunch ready for work and off I go. It takes work to get yourself in that mentality and you'll have PLENTY of days where you're just...MEH. LOL.

Tater, it's easier to do than you think. I lost 30 pounds my senior year in High School, and part of that was my constant time at the Dojang, but the other half was due to my diet. I completely cut out fried foods from my diet and would only have the occasional Sprite for my soda intake on rare occasions; otherwise milk and water were plenty much my liquid intake. By cutting out all the fried/greasy stuff, my heart health and my weight truly thanked me for it.

Renee - Woo hoo on the 2 pound loss!

Janet - Its the last week of August, I'm with you, time to get back on track (for real) so I am ready to go for September. I have got to get more serious. I do GREAT during the week and then the weekend hits and its all down hill from there.

Hopefully with school and schedules more normal, it will be easier to get things back on track for myself, including weekends. It makes it really hard because my husband and I go out to eat on Friday nights and since he works so hard and out in the heat everyday I always let him choose where he wants and my will power just goes down hill. But he will be back to bowling on Friday nights in a couple of weeks so that will definitely help and I will only have Saturday to keep under control.

Need to get a workout calendar set up and stick to it again, I've worked too hard to lose as much as I have to put it all back on! Time for some serious hard work!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Leslie

Lost 2 pounds. I was at 211 yesterday and today I'm at 209. I have 2 more pounds to go to get back to where I was when we got back from Minnesota last month. That will be the 20 pound weight loss since going gluten free back in March. I have another 14 pounds until I get back to the 45 pound weight loss since joining SparkPeople back on August 31, 2008. I gained 32 of the 45 pounds back and I cannot wait to get back below 200 pounds again. Its been almost 2 years since I have been below 200 pounds.

Hello everyone! I have been missing for a while emoticon I normally check SP at work - I know it sounds bad, but I take breaks every now and again, so I log onto SP. It breaks down my day. However, I have been extremely busy the last two weeks, so of course work had to come first emoticon
Anyway, I haven't been doing great in the food department - no bad, but not great. There are certain foods that I am allowing myself to eat way too much of. The weight is the same, but I can tell my body definition isn't.
I have been working out, but once again, not as much as I used to. I had way too many 'rest' days, and then when I do work out I go all out.
Starting from next week, I need to track everything. That usually keeps me accountable. It shames me, so I listen to it emoticon

Janet

NIght - Great job on the weight-loss. Hope all is ok with your family now.

Renee - Wow, I don't think I would like that sign. Hope its good news when you weigh and hope your back gets to feeling better.

Well, I'm going to get my coffee and try to get a workout in before we leave for Tallahassee for the baseball showcase.

Have a great weekend all!

My back is a little sore right now and I know why. Might of lost some weight but I'll check in the morning. It might sound strange but that always and indicator that I've lost weight. It might be a pound or two but it hurts that much.

8 pounds down from my last weigh-in! Definitely feeling good! A bit behind on my strength training which I am not happy about, but this week has been difficult thanks to a family emergency that definitely took precedence, so I won't beat myself up about it. :)

Night - Hope the Dr. visit went well and they can get your migraines under control.

Janet - You are so right. I have no clue what my problem is. I have basically went 'back to the basics' as far as this whole thing goes. Sometimes I think I need to do that to regroup and get back on track.

My eating is going well and I have been getting back on my workouts on a regular basis, now I just have to keep myself there. Not doing anything radical right now, just trying to get myself back in the habit of working out 5-6 times a week for at least 30 minutes.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far and staying focused!

Going to the Doctor today for a follow up on my migraine condition...and therefore like most doctors visits, will be getting weighed. Cringing. Wish me luck!

Sounds like everyone is doing great.

Leslie...we need to motivate each other. I haven't been doing so well at my workouts lately either emoticon

I don't do walk away the pounds, but I do a lot of the walking videos on Jessica Smith and really like them.

i love the walking away the pounds. i can keep up with it, do the moves at full/extra intensity, full range of motion. tonight i was at 3.5 miles and i did a few jogging at a few times and she said that our heart rate was still high and we were still moving at a brisk pace. i checked my pulse and it was not that fast. i was not huffing and puffing either. my legs were feeling the exercise but i realized i could hangle a lot more in an aerobic way. i will still keep doing these videos, but i will have to rotate in some more intense, moves. may have to add more HIIT routines to my rotation.

Don't forget to be awesome.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I know its been a while. I have been trying so hard to get myself back on track and get my motivation back.

I managed to lose 2 pounds this week! I've been doing ok with my eating, but the motivation to get the workouts in is proving to be a challenge. Think I'm getting back on track now though.

Hope everyone has been doing well.

Have a great weekend all!

I've been wanting to try some of the online workouts I found in the Fitness section of Yahoo Screens. Variation is a necessity. :)
