An update on the abortion issue: the Arkansas legislature, in it's infinite wisdom, has passed the toughest abortion law in the nation. Which just proves that nobody's life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness is safe when it's in session. It was vetoed by the governor and then quickly overridden.
wow that is a bit disturbing. glad i dont live there

Well, Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe has vetoed the strict abortion bill... www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/26/ar
The House approved Mayberry's 20-week abortion bill on an 80-10 vote last week. It had been previously approved by the Senate on a 25-7 vote.
Beebe's veto comes as Arkansas lawmakers are weighing stricter legislation that would prohibit abortions at 12 weeks into a pregnancy. Beebe has said he has concerns about that legislation's constitutionality as well. That measure is expected to go before a Senate panel Wednesday.
The only thing I can say is for all liberal or progressive citizens to get the HELL out of Arkansas...which is what I plan on doing, once I have enough money saved to relocate to another state!

that is crazyness!
That is one scary state!
I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie

The state legislature is now controlled by right-wing GOP members who seem hell-bent on keeping Arkansas stuck in the 19th century. Already, one of the strictest abortion bills in the US has been passed and is waiting on the governor's desk for his signature.
In gun rights news...Arkansas now allows concealed handguns to be carried in churches, and on the UA campus...
And as one Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnist wrote: By the time this legislative session ends, the only things women will be allowed to carry are guns and fetuses.
