I agree that the characters seem to be growing and expanding. It does make it more realistic.

That is why I think Bones works so wells as a tv show it is realistic, no fluff, it's not all hearts and flowers, it shows the reality of life, like putting Riley down, that is what happens to all fight dogs, once they have actually fought, which is a shame.

This episode was very sensitive. There's been a lot of discussion about it on the Fox website. I wasn't surprised that they put Ripley down, but it was really sad. I'm glad they brought this subject up and presented it realistically.

I love the character development on this show. A lot of these types of shows have interesting cases, but the characters stay the same. I love watching the characters grow and change on Bones.

I like that fact that she is changing while working with Booth, she is getting to work with the public more so it's how any person would respond. They are developing the way a real work relationship would, Booth more Squint like, Bones more normal like.

This is a great way to discuss things from each show. It has been hard for me as I have watched the first two weeks when I was away from home. It is more enjoyable to watch at home.

I so agree with you about Booth getting Bones to open up. I think it makes her seem so much more human, even though I liked her persona before. She has always had a unique take on life. I am so glad I opened this discussion. I have really enjoyed getting everyone's take on animal rights. I have for dogs of my own and love them like my kids. If you don't know about it, there is a team called Dog Lovers on Spark. Look it up!

I too liked this weeks assisant, was kind of sad to find out he was a temp. I wonder if it will be like Murphy Brown, a new assisant every week.

Both him and Emily are big into Aminal Rights. Emily is vegan and David has been on Animal Rights since before Angel.

This was on the PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) website. You can go to Peta.org and look under the celebreties section to read this. On Bones they make it seem like he is afraid of animals but he is a real animal lover. He did this campaign right at the end of the series to use his celebrity to help in something he believes in. Which I think is great.

David Boreanaz Is an “Angel for Animals”
David Boreanaz stars in PETA's 'Angel for Animals' ad campaign along with his dogs, Fritz and Bertha Blue, including the tagline “Be your dogs’ angel. Play with them … take them for nice long walks … don’t ever chain them.”
Every day, millions of dogs are left chained and unattended in backyards across the U.S., shivering in the cold or panting from the heat, often with no more than a shoddy, makeshift shelter to protect them from the elements.

Living day after day in isolation causes loneliness and distress for these social, pack-oriented animals.

I love all things great and small. I have always hated to see anyone mistreat animals. And I did find this episode quite sad. The funeral that Booth and Bones had for "Ripley" at the end really got me choked up. But, I do love how they are getting Booth's character to really open up Bones and get her more in touch with her emotions.

I am a huge animal lover and feel that only when people are vocal will things change. Sometimes people are offput when someone expresses strong opinions but I don't see the problem if you are not trying to force your views on someone else. I do believe animal cruelty is wrong and is a sign of being cruel at the character level.

Hey I am on the same soap box as you, except I think it should be a stage with more people screaming for harsher penalities. Some of the animals we got, still make me cry at times, but thankfully we always won custody of the animals. So I bet if we ever got together we would get along great has it seems we have a few things in common.

I too was desturbed and it does make me angry that people can act that way but I do think the point is to expand peoples awareness. The more people aware the bigger an issue it becomes. I was shocked by a comment someone said to me about a case not involving dog fighting but dog neglect. They said a friend was jailed for dog neglect and they thought it was unfair but I knew of the case and said that the dog was so malnourished that it had to be put down because the bones had a severe vitamin deficiancy that caused the bones and organs to weaken. I felt jail time was appropriate. They are trying to get people aware so that the legislation for harsher penalties can get passed in certain areas. There are a lot of people who think this isn't a big deal. Sorry about my soapbox rant but this is something I really believe in. Back to the show, I too think Angela and Hodgens will get back together. I actually liked the assistant in a way but wouldn't want him on permanantly, but he might be the kind of character that would grow on me.

I know the bait dogs or meat dogs atleast can find home, personally I think the dog fight trainers ought to be put in a cage with the dogs and see how it feels, but I know that isn't the answer to. It's just so senseless. I belong to the volunteer rescue squad here and also volunteer animal shelters, all my life my family has taken in the animals the ASPCA has taken that they couldn't put up for adoption, because we have stables, we got one of the fight dogs, I worked with him for months, before the trial, when we first moved here, I didn't know they were going to put him down, I got him to the point where he could go and sleep with the cats and stuff and if my parents didn't video tape it, he would have been put down. We only got to keep him because of that. But it took months and months of work. and a lot of space. But I know the other dogs in the case were put down I cried so hard. My parents did too, they would have taken all the dogs and we would have trained them if we had known.

I agree that the issue of dog-fighting has to be addressed. I live in an area that had that very thing on the news not that long ago (The Vick trial). But, even so, it broke my heart. I understand why it has to be done, I just hurt because it is so senseless, even for the "bait" dogs. On the bright side, I know they were able to find homes for some of the "bait" dogs in the Vick case, since they were not vicious or used to fight, just as a "meat reward". Isn't that disgusting? Thanks for your words.

It was sad but it's a true fact any dog who has ever been in a dog fighting ring has to be put down. It's the law, 1 reason is because they are taught to kill things small then them as rewards and as a way to start their training, which endangers other animals and kids 2 because it's not a good life for the dogs afterwards, usually they have trust issues, badly broken bones, and other health issues. The reason for the showing was to make people more aware of the issues as it's growing out of control in major cities like detroit, miami, la and other places. It's sad because a lot of the dogs when they are alone are like Riley but you can't have them around anything smaller and you have to careful with them. I think they will get hodgins and angela back together did you see the look the two of them had. they will work it out.

Although the episode was okay, I was very disturbed by the plot. I am a very devoted dog lover, and the plot really upset me, especially the end when they put Ripley down. I also do not like the fact that they have Hodgins and Angela apart. They belong together. I hope that works out. I do like them showing different grad students each week, but this man was VERY annoying, more than last week's goof ball. Anyway, I still love the show and know that the content may not always be comfortable. It just hit a very vulnerable spot in me.
