Hi I'm stuck right now I only need to lose 3 pounds BOO! But anywho when I finally started to do the veggies and fruit thing which I hardly ever did that helped plus I kicked up my walikng to Lelise Sanone's 4 mile slim walk and for about a half hour before I went to bed I'd watch tv fast walking to a lite jog in frount of the tv I did that for about a week and lost about 2 pounds. I stopped doing it cause I was afrid I was doing to much. But I may do it again just to get past the long platue[sp] Oh and I really tried to count my caloires but when it came to meals[we eat out about 4 times a week] I gave up, I just tried to eat the best things I could find and only half of it.

Hey kids it's me Linda46,

Another thing you may want to check out is where your calories are coming from. After you enter your info for the day, you can view a pie chart that shows where your calories are coming from - fats, carbs, and proteins.

For me, I have to make sure I stay at 30 for fats or I don't lose a pound. I also tend to keep my calories around 1100 a day. I'm fully satisfied with that amount.

I'm moving and working out. It doesn't seem to make a difference in the scale zone. It does help in aiding my appearance and confidence when I dance.

Nutritionists and doctors will sometimes recommend lower for shorter women who have slower metabolisms than they should at a certain age. For me I decided I would rather err on the side of caution and just work out more rather than risk starvation mode, because IT SUCKS. :D

I can only lose if I eat 1250 or less. 1150 is better for me and that yields 1/2 a pound a week. I'm not counting calories now since following WW again. I get 19 a day. I'm trying to stop at 2-3 extra flex a day as when I was eating 5-6 extras I wouldn't lose. So far this week, so good. let's see how th weekend fairs.

Hi there...I'm also 5'2" with the suggested range of 1200-1550. I know from many years of this dieting game that if I eat more than 1100 calories per day I won't lose even one pound. So, even though I shouldn't admit this out loud, I try to stay around the 1000 - 1100 calories per day range...in my defense, however, I eat plenty of food during the day and am very careful to eat healthy calories rather than balancing and juggling the right quantities of junk food to keep me within my range. Check out my nutrition log and my fitness log if you'd like... :-)

I'm a firm believer in the starvation mode theory...I know it's true, but for me, I lose weight at that calorie range at just the right speed...1 - 2 pounds per week. So far in 6 weeks I've lost 9 pounds, but I've been completely faithful to the program....no cheating (well, just a tiny bit 'o cheating on my bday, but I stress "tiny bit"!!)!

Good luck to everyone!!

I almost never eat less than my 1200. I love eating too much for that. I also get hypoglycemic if I don't eat every meal and a couple snacks.

I am glad you said that about loosing a chunk in the first 6 weeks. I remember now that I often loose weight in chunks. My body will actually gain a couple pounds right before a weightloss dump. Patience and consistency have to amount to something right?

Well I'll update in four weeks and let everyone know how things are going.

Also sometimes you don't lose a thing for the first 6 weeks or so when you do weight loss the so-called 'right way'. I didn't as my body adjusted to the new water and calorie intake and then WHAM I lost 6-8 pounds in less than a week. Then it went to a normal level of loss per week. It can be kind of crazy, but if you take in less than 1200 per day your body can go into starvation mode and it will hold EVERYTHING.

I'm having the same trouble you are. I am only 4' 10" but I've been assigned the same calorie intake range. I've been exerising almost daily but I've only lost one pound in almost 3 weeks! I'm going to look into the calorie cycling. That was a good idea. At least you are not the only one with this difficulty!

You shouldn't go below 1200 calories, because that's the minimun number of calories anyone should have (no matter what height). I'm 5'2" also, and I stuck around 1200 for most of my weight loss journey, and it worked for me.

One thing you might try is calorie cycling, I don't have experience with it, but I know there's websites and teams on Spark that do it. Its when you vary your calorie intake every day, the idea is that this keeps your metabolism gussing and it doesn't get used to any one calorie amount.

Just stick with it, and keep doing what you're doing. You'll see the pounds come off.

I'm 5'2" and 165.5 lbs. The sparkdiet recommends I get 1200-1550 calories a day. It seems like a lot and I tend to eat on the higher end rather than the lower end. I've had problems in the past with programs that don't take into account my height, only my weight and I end up not loosing. I'm really trying to jump start my metabolism and I've been exercisingIt' every day. I haven't seen any thing on the scale or the measuring tape yet. It's only been two weeks but when I did Weight watchers I saw results the first week. Can anyone give me suggestions on what you did to help the pounds come off??
