Funny. That happens to me too. I've taken the hems out of petite pants and re-hemmed 'regular' length pants many times. I like the short 'curvy girl' levis, they fit pretty good. I'm less than 5'1", but still find the petites too short sometimes!

Keep in mind that Petite and Short are not the same thing. Petite will be smaller over all. Short is just a shorter inseam. Lee sells a "short". I am 5'0" with a 26 inch inseam. I'm finding the "Short" still a bit long, but the regular fits the same as the short, with just a different inseam. I've had luck with Talbot's as well, but that is a higher quality of clothing. I'm not sure what your job requires, so I hope these two levels help.

I am 5'3 and have spent a life time trying to find pants that fit. If I buy regular size they are about 2 or 3 inches to long. If I but petite they look like I shrank them, they are about an inch to short.
I have many of the same issues with shirts sleeve to long or to short.
Anyone out there know of a place that has jeans or pants of any type that I dont have to wear heels with...lol
