Not very often - once a month, sometimes once every two months.

Like a lot of people here, I used to weight once a day, but it ws tough to see the numbers go up and down, up and down. So I weigh myself once a week. If you've gained a significant amount of weight in a week, then you review what you've been eating and exercising, and watch yourself more closely.

But even with once a week, you may be getting fitter, but the scale doesn't show it. If your numbers don't go down, it could be that you're gaining very important, fat-burning muscle, or that you're retaining water, or that it's a certain time of the month, and that'll flush itself out of your system afterwards as long as you keep on track.

I am weighing myself once a week. I have it planned to be the same day of the week, at the same time of day.

I am tracking my weight, but I am relying more on how my pants and clothes fit.

I've been weighing myself once a week. I've tried to do it less, but I cannot seem to help myself from checking if I've made any progress. My scale is a bit wonky, so I'm not sure why I bother at all!

I weigh myself once a month just to get the # and to see if there is any loss or gain. otherwise, throughout the month, i use my energy level, clothing, and generally how i am feeling to gauge my progress. I can't do daily because the # would make me nuts, regardless of up or down. i can't do once a week for the same reason. so, once a month is what causes me the least anxiety (since i STILL focus mostly on the # on the scale).

I used to weigh myself daily but the constant up and down of a pound or 2 drove me crazy! I just weigh myself weekly now and save myself the stress. I could see weighing myself daily during maintenance, though, but that's aways from here emoticon

Here's a Spark People article on scales. It is sometimes better NOT to weigh yourself often.

Scale made me so crazy, I put it away and judge by my clothes. Does it really matter what the scale says anyway??

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am doing daily now but with a 2lb loss then a 2lb gain the next day, I think I will go to weekly, my clothes feel like they fit better but the scale is driving me crazy emoticon

I basically weigh myself on a daily basis to make sure I'm on the right track. However, I only record my weight on Sundays. I also measure myself on a monthly basis and use clothing to measure my progress.

I think it really depends on the person. I used to weigh in daily and would have a melt down if I gained, so I switched to weekly. Then I stopped weighing in and only used body fat measurements. Once I saw my body fat going down, which was most important to me, I'm now back to weighing myself every morning, but not to obsess about that number, but to actually note changes in my weight depending on different things. A little gain no longer freaks me out, but it may be a clue that I need to cut back sodium, etc.

I use to weigh every morning to avoid any gain. It stressed me so much and had me so worried about every bite I took and still had no weight loss. I decided to use other ways to gauge my weight loss like how my clothes fit, how I feel, my energy level, food choices, and exercise habits. I just started doing this new plan so I can't tell you the difference. I am starting to sleep better which is known to help with weight loss. Good luck on your journey. I know you will find what works best for you. emoticon

I just started my journey AGAIN with weight loss and I have heard different idea's as to when to weight yourself, I heard daily so you can keep an eye on your progress & if you need to adjust what you are doing before it gets out of control, then I have heard from others that daily is setting yourself up for disaster and you wont see the progress you want as quick?
What do you do & why ????
