When I was losing, Spark had me between the 1,200 - 1,500 range. Now that I'm in maintenance, they have my numbers somewhere between 1,350 - 1,770. but if I don't remain close to that upper number, then I'll continue to lose weight...very slowly..but I'll lose.

In order for me to lose weight I need to stay as close to the 1200 calorie mark as I can, and that includes having to do more than walking for 30 minutes a day. Otherwise, the scale doesn't budge at all.

My hard limit is 1500 calories a day. That is the number I will not absolutely go over. However, the goal I try to reach every day is 1200 calories. I try to be around that number, within 50 calories. I find these numbers work well for me to keep losing weight. If I eat to little or too much the scale does not move, no matter how much I exercise.

SP recommends 1200 to 1500 for me, but when I eat until I get to the 1200 calories -- the weight comes off very slow (I've been on here 4 years already). Finally this month I decided to throw caution to the winds, and if I had eaten 997 calories or 1097 or whatever number it happened to be under the recommended 1200 -- I didn't worry about it. And this month I have lost an amazing 6.8 pounds! I think for my body 1000 calories is what it takes + exercise too of course. You can never forget to add in exercise.

I need to stay close to the 1200 - if I'm not exercising. If I'm on track with exercise I can ease up to 1400 calories and I'm pretty consistent overall losing 1 lb a week.

I try to stay below 1550. Being older and not as active as I was earlier in life; I am having a hard time keeping the pounds off.

I need to try and stay at 1300 or so (but SP says I need about 1330). I haven't been able to loose too much due to a lack of consistency of 5 - 7 day per week of exercise.

I have to stay under 1300 cal and low fat to loose because the only exercise I get is walking my dog most days 60 minutes. Then the walking around Walmart or Hy-Vee once a week shopping for groceries. Lucinda

If I stay under 1550 calories per day, especially if I am reasonably active, I will lose slowly and consistently, without feeling bad.

My exercise pattern is rather erratic so I best try to stick to the 1200-1500 kcal range. Naturally, as I've observed my eating patterns (if I don't indulge and overeat too much) I pack in 1800-2000 kcal. It took me 2 whole weeks to push it down to close to 1500. Now I'm tracking the days I can actually stay within my SP recommended range. I try to fulfill the 560kcal a week workout program, lost 2 kgs already, so I hope for the best :D

I'm 36 and 5'2". I want to lose 8 kg in a year, so very gradually. I do strength training 3x a week and cardio 5x a week, but only 10 minutes at a time. My range is 1370-1720 and it's working for me. I tend to stay in the lower end during the week and at the top or slightly over on weekends.

My range is 1450-1800 and it works well for me. I'm pretty active, I work out 4-5 times a week and strength train regularly. I also have a goal of losing only 1/2 lbs a week. It is realistic and sustainable for me. I've lost 12 lbs since mid-June and feel great.

1200 - 1500 calories has worked well for me. It is still hard for me to fit carbs into my diet without adding calories. I don't like them (carbs) much.

At 5' 3", Spark has me eating 1200 - 1500 calories. That's about right for me at my age of 45+. I haven't been consistent with exercise, however, I'm increasing to 30 - 45 min daily on the treadmill. By signing up for the LOSE 5 LBS IN OCT challenge, I hope to pull this off. I'm off to a slow start, but the future looks much brighter with less stress and I have more control over the next 3 weeks before testing arises.........AGAIN....= lots of stress! = slip-ups!

SP has my range for light activity as 1380-1730. usually i am around 15-1600 most days. i know that i will get to the point where i am active more consistently, but i don't think my range will change much on the upper end. i do have days when i go over, but not many days.

I'm 5'2" and I'm eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day to lose. I'm exercising about 30 minutes a day, often times more. I could eat more calories if I wanted to take a year to lose the weight but I'm feeling motivated to lose as much as I can before the holidays and snow set in.

I can loose weight eating 1500 per day with 30 minutes exercise 4 times per week. Without exercise, I can't loose weight eating 1500 calories.

I am fairly active but try to stick around 1500. Some days, if I am famished I'll go over that but usually 1500 is enough. I'm 5'3".

I'm 5 ft 2 and as a ballet teacher am very active as I also swim and do zumba. my calorie range is 1,200 to 1,550. I struggle to eat enough calories and carbohydrates so I find the tracker invaluable to make sure i'm not damaging my metabolism.

Just as YICHE12 said a lot of it's based on your activity level. I'm 5 ft and my calorie range is 1380-1730. From what I've read, if you absolutely don't do any type of exercise the least amount of calories you should eat is 1200 so that your body doesn't go into starvation mode. Most people that exercise moderately will generally lose weight on a diet of 1500.

The calorie range is also calculated according to your activity level. For instance, I'm 5'1.5" tall and my calorie range is between 1470-1820. If I stick around 1600 calories, I lose weight. Needless to say that with this calorie range, I'm a very active person.

I am curious what calorie range people who are losing on SP and are under 5' 3" are actually eating? My assigned range is 1200-1550, but that is actually quite a wide range for someone who is short. Thanks!
