OMG yes last November. I have a treadmill but once you start running outside, there is just no comparison. I found myself not running and that was wrong! I finally figured it out mid Jan and got started up again though.

So this November... no slacking for me! Besides really using the treadmill on days I cannot run outside, I am looking to get a trainer for my bike so I can ride that to do something different.

Thank you ladies for feeling my pain & sharing your encouragement. I think I have the "winter blues" syndrome...my energy & attitude is totally dependent upon whether the sun is shining. The gray dreary days bug the heck out of me...I even feel sad sometimes. I'm hoping that my exercise routine will help me push past those yucky days.

I ran this morning but I waited until the sun was shining brightly (it was 48 degrees). During the week, I run before work - around 5:30a. Tomorrow is going to be the big test! I've laid out gloves, a hat and a sweat jacket.

Wish me luck!!

First of all let me say CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss! WOW! FANTASTIC JOB!

As far as the cold and winter thing...UGH! I'm with you, it's going to be a challenge to stay focused. I had such a horrible time motivating myself just to get out of bed yesterday because of the cold, and it was like pulling teeth to get my workout in. Today has been a little bit better because the sun is out, but still to cold for me to want to go outside. I'm such a freeze baby!

I Don't like the COLD!

Does anyone else struggle with maintaining their weight during the cold months & holidays? I lost 30 lbs over the summer and went from a size 14 to a size 4. I feel great and I don't want the weight to creep back up!!

When I was trying to lose weight, I ate apprx 1150-1250 cal per day (Fri night was my scheduled reward" night so I went way over the cal amt). I also exercised - a combination of running/walking and yoga/pilates. And since Fri night was my reward night, I exercised a lot on Sat (long runs, really long walks or a couple of fitness classes with a small break in between). I lost an avg of 2 lbs per week. The cal range may seem really low but I'm 5'0" and this was the "sweet spot" for my weight loss.

Now that I'm in the lifestyle maintenance phase, I've increased my daily cal range to 1200-1400. Fri nights are still my reward night and Sat are still my super fitness days. I haven't made it down to 118 yet but I'm holding steady between 120-121. I feel comfortable in my clothes so I'm in a good place.

I think I just have to stay focused and not get completely crazy with eating (or too lazy about exercising) as the fall/winter months creep in. I like to exercise outside so I think this will be a challenge...

Tips and suggestions welcome!!! :)
