You're a young woman, so the recommendation to eat at the high end of your calorie allotment works. But it's definitely not a one-size-fits-all proposition. For those of us higher up on the "age scale" (LOL) the calories need to be on the low end... Age, menopause and hormonal levels change the rules quite a bit!
