I like the SparkPoints, too, though I only use them to remind and challenge myself. I guess I usually average around 30-40 per day depending on how much exercise I do. It does make it fun - kind of like a report card and I always wanted to be an A student!

One day, one step, one bite at a time. Do I want to make progress or do I want to make excuses?

In regards to my 2hrs of exercise in a day:

I have no kids, no job, nothing to do besides keep my house clean and laundry done and meals ready when my husband wakes up and gets home. He works nights, and I sleep on his schedule, so I am up during infomercials and have lots of spare time! Once I get a job, I'm sure I'll make some changes but I don't want to go below 60 minutes a day and stick with 120 on days I don't work. My first month on SP, I entered my food in advance because I was planing my meals and then printing shopping lists and getting everything except fruits/veggies one time per month. That was before I got married and had to plan meals around 2 people! But now, I just do it daily because there really isn't a way to plan that far ahead. I do plan a week ahead, but don't enter it because it usually changes depending on what DH is feeling up to!

Oh well! Guess you can only do what you can do...and that's the point of the points. Get as much as you can manage...without killing yourself.

METISMOM: You only get 15 points max for posting on the message boards!

wow... the concept of fitting 120 minutes of exercise in a day is mind boggling.
I remember, as a student with no job and no kids, I could do it.... but now? with a job, and 2 kids who need me home... help w/ home work... etc etc...

no WAY is that time available to me. I'm proud of the 1/2 hour a day I get more often than not....
ah well... perhaps I can give up sleep...

The reason that some poeple have a lot more points, especially nearer the beginning of the month is because they go through in advance and put things in like cardio and food. The points for these are added up for the whole month regardless of when yopu put them in - you will see that some people have over 1500 points on the first day of the month, but thats because they already entered food and exercise for that month.

You should find that you slowly catch up with them over the month.

I personnally dont know how they do it, i can understand a few days in advance for food and stuff but i always enter exercise after i have done it so i know its true - coz my sessions dont always last the tiem i plan to. but i suppose each to their own - i think they just like to see their names up there high on the leaderboard at the start of the month!

I can get almost 60 points a day for a normal day. (That's usually doing 30 min of cardio a day.) But I recently switched from stage 1 to 2, and have done 6 action steps so far this month, so I got extra points for that.

I really think I'm getting the maximum points possible without killing myself, and I'm amazed when people have significantly more points than myself!

Thanks for cheering me up and ressuring me that I do need to vary my routine (and eat enough!) to keep losing. I will be more content when I have finally lost my rolls of fat and have a shapely outline again. Those SPARK points are certainly addictive (and calorie/carb free!). emoticon

Don''t give up, losing weight is like walking downhill and carrying a lighter load as you go. After a while, fill a carrier bag with the weight you have lost and feel good about yourself when you put it down.
Eating healthy and drinking lots of water gives you beautiful skin and takes years off you.

I was wondering the same thing! I do everything on the daily checklist that I can already, but still I see people with some crazy high points! I am really competitive about my points, too. Amazing how a little thing like sparkpoints keep you motivated. I find I exercise sometimes even when I don't feel like it just so I can get those points! Whoever thought of that is a genius!

WENDY: You're doing the right thing to get past your plateau. Switch it up. Your body got used to what you were doing now, efficient machine that it is. You have to give it a new program to get used to and you will start to see losses again. Increasing your fat will increase your calories and that's good. Maybe your body just needs a little more. And the dumbells are good too. You'll be building muscle to burn away more fat. You're on the right track, chica. Don't forget to drink more water too. It keeps the metabolism going! Good luck!

LOL, I'm getting competitive about the points too ! each day, I go through the checklist, doing everything I can (but I'm finding that 2x 30 mins cardio on my elliptical is boring and I hate getting back on for a 2nd tough session each day. I have firmed up, lost inches (and 23lbs+ of fat) but have not lost any weight for a month and feeling discouraged, decided to 'shake up' my eating and exercise. I'm still low carb (because I am insulin resistance to carb foods) but will eat up to 40gms fat rather than 25, keep my carbs to a max of 20gms and cut out my 2 morning coffees (!?*&! already!). Also, I'm doing my cardio 4x 15 mins, followed by stretching and dumbells. How has everyone else overcome the 'stuck scales syndrome'? emoticon

If you exercise 120 minutes and do everything else available in the "daily points" area, (except 50 emails cause they don't send us that many) then you can get 70 a day and that's not even counting sign in points... if someone got an average of 2 pts for signing in and did everything else then they'd have 1080 for this month.... THEN add the extra stuff you can do like inviting people, changing levels, reading emails etc and it is deff doable. I exercise 120 minutes 5 days a week. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon or evening. So that's why I have so many... (1202 for NOvember)

=) I think that Im glad you don't get anything for points.... I think I wouldn't be honest about it if we did!

I don't have 1700, but I get my points by doing the things that are available to do each day (read emails, get maximum on my cardio daily, do all the other goals, etc. available to do on my chart.) I have submitted 2 recipes, but they haven't been approved. I just got my 10 points for my first 100 posts. (It took me a long time to get that, I don't post that much.)
