I could use another person to help with leading at some. I am very busy, but sick at the same time. I have been with a very bad cold these days.

I'm going to start tracking again. Been eating too much junk and forgetting about it. Tracking will make me accountable for everything I eat each day. Thing I'll just hand write instead of online this time.

I have just received a copy of the spark solutions book, but not sure how to get the points added to the total. I have also been down and busy at the same time. I went to the eye doctor yesterday and it looks like some part of the left eye is closed, so I will need to figure out what to question the new eye doctor in order to know whether I should go through some laser thing or to wait. I am also getting what I need done in order to know whether or not I am getting an interview or hopefully a job. My anxiety had been spiking at times as well. I am also binging and with sodas still and looking for work just in case it doesn't work out.

Hi. I've been off Sparking lately, been busy with family stuff- but finally back to 'normal' and will try to do daily positing and tracking! I'm getting ready to head to work- first of 3 nights (12 hour shifts).
Hey Onicam- I too drink sodas emoticon - but stick to diet Rootbeer and Coke or Sprite Zero. I know it has its bad implications, but I just try to drink them while at work or house cleaning. I figure there are any number of things that are 'bad' for us that we ingest, not just soda. So I don't worry too much about it- usually.
Hope everyone is doing well and willing to get out team more active-
I'm off to work, will check our postings when I get off tomorrow morning....

I'm on a long stretch of working after a trip out of town for a week. Easy to get off track when you're at someone else's house and with a bunch of people. I have 2 more nights to work, then I'm off for a few days, whew! A few pounds crept up, but will do what I can to get rid of it quickly- but right now, I'm going to eat dinner then head to work for 12 hours.......
Hope everyone's doing good and having a good week so far.

Hi,

It's been quite a while, but I'm back. Trying again. I weighed today - 182 - not pretty... Today is day two of clean eating and I'm doing the couch to 5k program and going to add yoga back into my schedule ASAP. Thinking of weight lifting, but I'm not sold yet - guess I'm just postponing the inevitable. Definitely in need of encouragement and motivation. I really don't want to do this yo yo again.

Thanks for sticking with me!

Peg

I went back to the start of this topic, which was back in June 2006, and scrolled up several posts and found it does indeed stand for South Beach Diet.

I've been a member of this group for a while now, but don't remember what SBD stands for- maybe South Beach Diet?
Or does the SBD stand for Short - Bsomething- Dsomething?

Who remembers?
Or, maybe post your thoughts about what it could/should mean....

I don't follow South Beach Diet, but stick to Low Carb eating and it has worked great for weight loss for me- I'm down 25 pounds and am now close to my previously 'normal' weight.

Hope everyone is doing well and that we can get this team to be active and positive again.

Hello Cher, I was wondering what the SBD group is? Just curious, but after sorting from last, I believe it was a group that I'm not part of. I'm new as of 1/1/14. Thanks, Bri

didn't start the day to well. the pounding was a bit much. In my head from a headache ( lack of caffeine I suspect) and in my chest from a panic attack...it was so bad I was having trouble swallowing the pounding was that hard it was like my heart was in my throat. why I don't know I woke up to that. doing better now but for how long is anybodies guess.

sorry I haven't been around. I get panic attacks too. Some days even when I think I'm having a good day I'll be hit by one. So I been reading in all these magazines about sparks so I am rededicating myself to sparks and will be looking for support. I don't have support in real life so here is all I got. will you help me?

Really sorry to hear about the fire. Been there done that many years ago. If you can maintain your weight during that time, you're doing great !

Hopefully things will straighten out before long and you'll be able to de-stress some. Starting over with everything is so stressfull. Be sure to take time for yourself to decompress.

Hi. I've been off work for 5 days and catching up on house stuff; back to work tomorrow emoticon . I am a Spark Coach member and really like it- every day you follow a daily plan to get motivated, listen to a coach video, track food & exercise, and get a goal or community thing to do and then you get extra Spark Points, which is fun.
I like to keep up with this group, since I'm a 5-footer with all that goes along with that shortness. emoticon
I'm wondering how Onicam is doing? You were going for Xrays, and to Physical Therapy, I think. The PT should really help get you back to feeling strong and healthy. So how's it going?

True to form, not much action on here while we're busy in the summer. We just went through quite a disaster, concerning the fire in Yarnell, AZ. We lost our summer home, all the contents and even the landscaping. We had several huge oak trees that had to be taken out. We are in the process of re-building, but there are a lot of roadblocks (delays) due to the situation. Right now the land has been cleared and all the debris hauled away, but we are waiting for temporary power from the electric company. They want $1000 for the pedestal to put their new meter! Can you believe it? What a rip-off.

Weight wise I've been staying below the 140 mark, so I'm happy about that!

Seems like when summer arrives, and school is out -- everyone disappears. I won't be on as much by the 12th or 13th -- having a little surgery and will be out of town for a week or so. I am staying with my daughter for it, as he fiancÚ is the surgeon.

Take care. Eat well. Exercise daily.

I have had a rough day yesterday. I had to take Benadryl due to hives after breakfast. After I got on the bus I was falling asleep and then I went for candies since I need something to wake me up so I do not get hit crossing a 4 lane traffic street. After eating lots of them I fell asleep here and there and after leading exercise in a chair I fell asleep again. By 4:15 or so I broke out in my arm and do not know what from. I barely ate any lunch at all and I am very careful with my allergies. After work I made and ate dinner, played canasta, and went to bed. It took another hour to fall asleep and then I woke up in less than an hour later due to another nightmare. I had to call someone that I know is usually up at that time and have him calm me down enough to fall asleep.

DH and I are going up to our summer home today and won't be back until Wednesday. There are a few things we need to take care of before we go up for the summer. Unfortunately we do not have Internet service right now, so I won't be checking in tomorrow, and not until late afternoon on Wednesday probably.

I am going back and forth between ZoomText magnifier/Screen Reader and JAWS. This is Job Acess With Screen Reader. When I am using my phone I have Voice Over which is also a screen reader. I am with a cane and now that I have enough cane training I am now able to get a dog if I could get it through with my family. I was told that people who are not with cane training and use a dog are with more issues than those who use the cane.

I had no idea the requirements would be so stringent for something like that. You should be very, very proud of yourself.

How do you manage to enter things on your computer? The type is so small on SP, and we have no option of choosing a larger type? Would a seeing-eye dog help in your case?

I don't think I could walk 5.4 miles whether it was timed or not. How did you get yourself into such a predicament?

Really, really warm out today, so will wait until the sun is going down to go out for my walk, but I have been getting stuff done around the house.

I have not done well with my food or drink yesterday, but I had to get a timed receipt from McDonalds and from Donkin Doughnuts. My dad also took me out to dinner. I had to walk 5.4 miles yesterday on a day that my knee and foot was acting up and there was no way I could get out of it. I am stuffed up and coughing again. The walk was timed and I had finished it in 3 hours.

So sorry to hear you are legally blind. My sister became that way at age 40 due to MS. She had a terrible time spicing her food, and she was very sure if her sinks were clean, or if there were fingerprints around the doorknobs, etc. Little stuff like that was hard for her, and people who can see just don't think anything about it.

We all have our difficulties, but most of the time if we look around at our friends, we find we would rather have our problems than theirs.

Hope today is a good day for you!

Tracking my food is very difficult for me. I am legally blind and with 8 food allergies. I need to add a lot of different things in the tracker, but I have no one who can visually help me. I know that I am eating better because I have not had any sweets or soda for close to a week. Before that I would eat lots of servings. I have also just got off off diet mountain dew and pepsi max. I am not saying that this is enough for me to get down to exactly where I need to be, but I thought that this is at least better then what it was. I am walking for the exersise mainly. I have been too stressed, tired, and not feeling well to do the other exersises.

Are you getting any exercise? And when you say you are eating better, are you tracking your food so you're sure you're not going over on calories. For me, at 5'2" SP recommended 1200 to 1550 calories. Way too many for my body. I have found over my extensive experience of
74 years ( lol ) that I need to stay around 1000-1150 to lose weight, and even then if I don't exercise every single day the scale will either stay the same or will go up.

Have a nice day everyone -- and be thankful you are short. We seldom bump our heads!
Hugs, Eve

They were just reporting from Kansas City - quite a storm! Take care out there.
Have to stay on track while staying warm in the house I guess. I lived up in the snow for many years - still miss the beauty of it, but sure remember the cold and storms. Be safe!

There is a blizzard here in Kansas. I am stuck inside so I decided to pull out the treadmill. Half hour on that then my usual workout with increased reps. Gonna feel the burn tomorrow haha Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi, Everyone.

This month I've been restricting my carbs just to test the theory of whether my weight will decrease or not. So,YES, it is definitely helping. Saying no to the bread, chips, and desserts is making a positive difference. For now, I'm still enjoying pasta, rice, and potatoes in moderation.

I started this commitment on Feb.1st at 183.2 lbs. Today I weighed in at 176.8 lbs.
That's a difference of 6.4 pounds!! emoticon

I CAN do this ONE day at a time.

What does SBD stand for exactly? Short But Dear? Short But Determined?

Wanted to stop in and say 'hi' to everyone. Just had my income taxes done, so one less thing to worry about. I sat in his office and yawned and yawned, so maybe I'll try and take a nap. I know sometimes when I lay down, I think I'm tired, but sleep just doesn't come.

Well, when you put your fork down, pick up your glass of water -- it's hard to drink 8 glasses per day, so drinking as you eat will keep your hands busy and slow down your eating. lol

I gave myself a manicure today -- and decided to do my toes too! I'm not one who likes to have manicures and pedicures -- to me they are just way too expensive. But they do look nice now as my fingernails are always better in the winter when I'm not involved in gardening.

Another tactic is to put your fork down between bites. I try to take fairly small bites also, as I have noticed in men, they always try to stuff too much food into their mouth at one time. It looks disgusting and you are probably bolting your food down without sufficient chewing.

I am just starting to eat slowler. It has worked for several days, but I have been told from her to look at a clock with a second time and to take a bite every 60 seconds. I did not expect it, but it does seem to work for me.

I'm very conscious about eating healthy foods. My problem is still that I eat too much and way too fast. I'm working on both of those things though. I've succeeded in "no seconds" but I still get done before anyone else at the table. WHY are habits so hard to change???

You usually eat slower when you are eating with a friend or a group. Talking prevents you from eating, so whoever talks the most ends up eating the slowest. lol

Actually the reason behind eating slower is so you have the 20 minutes for your brain to receive the message that "you are full."

I am also to the point that one of my sponsors had started getting me to eat slowler. Right now the only way I can do this is if I am doing something else such as using a computer or playing games on the IPhone.

Dried fruit is a good alternative from candy; but it is higher in calories than fresh fruit. I find that I do quite well in my food choices -- it is exercise that has me down. I love to walk but find that even though I like it, many times I just "don't do it." Is that crazy or what?

You've got to combine the two. The right food choices + exercise = weight loss

I have been busy with things lately, but I am doing better with the speed of food and have actually went for dried fruit instead of candies. I have also stayed away from soda and drank some flavored water.
