I'm going to have to say it definitely goes with your body type... I'm just over 5'1" and I've never been a size 6. I weighed between 105-110 in high school and college and was in 8s. I hate having huge hips! Although I do have to say that even though I was skinny then I was not in shape... so maybe if I had had more muscle (and weighed more too) I would have been smaller.

I am a "tight size 6" and I am 4'11 3/4" and weigh 127.
Definitely agree with everyone on here that it is determined by the brand of clothes and your tape measurements (waist and hips.)
There is always a happy medium, middle-ground, compromise. Make good choices and be a great role model.
Lead by example.

I wore a size 7 when I was 15 and 127 pounds. So I am guessing for me maybe 115-120?

5'3" and I wear a 6 when I weigh around 127-130.

It depends on your shape really. I now weigh 130 pounds and am 5'3'' and wear about a size 8, was a size 10 or 11 prior. I have been playing field hockey for 7 years now and because of it, I am really stacked up with muscle on my thighs and butt, I have always been teased or picked out for having a big booty, so needless to say I can not fit either of them into anything under a 7.
Which is frustrating I have lost 28 pounds and maybe a size or pushing 2, it 2 at all.
I put on a size 8 and my thighs and butt are feeling good, but my pant waist line is baggy, so I try on the next size down and my thighs can't breathe and I probably won't be able to get them over my butt, which sticks out a lot too.
SO don't focus too much on sizes, I lost 28 pounds everyone notices and NO ONE KNOWS THE SIZE I WEAR, SO THERE IS NO REAL PROBLEM, just a mental one!

I am 5' and at 130lbs I was a tight size six. I went down to a size 4 in almost all my clothes when I reached 118-120. Hope this helps! LOL

I've had that happen before myself. I bought to pairs of what I thought were exactly the same pants. They weren't. I got home and one pair didn't fit and I was going crazy trying to figure it out. I saw in tiny writing on the tag when I looked that they were low rise.

I'm chuckling reading these entries...it is nice to know that we all measure the extra 1/2 or 3/4" for height. The one entry is spot on about the manufacturers using the smaller sizes to get us to buy their brands. What I find mystifying is trying on the same jeans in the same store, same brand, same size and even they fit differently!

I am 5' 2 3/4", 131.8 pounds and I wear size 8 to 4 depending on what brand. I am mostly in a 6.

Me being 5'1 and 131.5 all of my pants that fit just right are size 7/8(and I try to wear my pants on my hips not waist). Body types are different though, when I weighed 105 I couldn't wear smaller than a size 5/6! I couldn't shave off my hip bone no matter how small the rest of me was, lol.

I am 5'2 and currently around 129 pounds...I am a pear shape so I am still in 8s for pants, some 6 depending on the cut. The waists are a little baggy but my bum is comfortable.

I'm 5'2.5 (medium frame)and a size 4 @ 128lbs. So I'm guessing I was 135 when I was a size 6. I've been trying to get this last few pounds off for a LONG WHILE so it's hard for me to remember my exact weight at that time since it was a while ago.

Thanks for the input, everybody! It totally is tricky. I didn't realize sizes varied that much from store to store -- I buy most of my clothes at one place at the moment (can't wait to shop at the 'skinny stores'!).

I'm about 5'1.5 & 103 lbs and i wear a size 1 or 3 in juniors (depending on the brand).

I'm afraid it's going to be hard to find a helpful answer to that question. For one, Someone who's 5'3" and wearing a size 6 is going to be at a very different weight than someone who's 4'10" and wearing a size 6. Second, it depends on whether you're talking about a 6 or a 6 petite - they're cut differently. And third, what consititutes a size 6 depends on the cut and manufacturer. Unlike my husband, who waalk in anywhere and find a pair of pants with waist size x and length y, we can try on the same size pants at 3 different stores and at one store it's a size too big, at another it's a size too small, and at a 3rd it's just right. I remember reading once that the average woman has to try on 15 pairs of jeans to find one that fits, and I believe it!

I'm at 5'1.5 and 130 and wearing a slightly loose 9-10 jeans from Aeropostale and dress pants size 8 from JCPenny. When I was 120 I was *almost* to a 4. So my best uneducated guess is about 120-125 for a size 6 dress pant. Hope this helps...

Depending on where you shop. It is the feel good effect. I never would of believed this but when my daughter said at some stores she is a 13,11,9, and then 7 at k-mart. I fit into a 4 at k-mart and thought what????? It's all a way of advertiseing in a way. Where are you going to spend your money on a size 12 at store X or size 6 at store Z? same jeans just different tag.?? The box says you can get skinny if you take this and the tag says you can feel skinny if you wear this.. Lynn

I am 5' and 116.5 and my size 6 jeans are no longer fitting me. This morning I slipped into my favorite pair and was actually upset, they are after my favorite pair!
I could put a large city yellow pages in my pants to fill up the extra room. AND I am bloated this morning from Aunt Flo.
sigh. Guess I have to let my favorite pair of jeans go...

I am 4'10" and I was a size 6 at 118 lbs. Now I am a size 4 and some size 2. But.......I have weighed less in my younger years, down to 105 and never was a size 4 until now. It has to do with strength training. I never lifted heavy weights when I weighed 105 (many, many years ago). If I were not dedicated to strength training, I wouldn't be size 4. I hope this helps.

In high school, I remember buying a size 5. I think our body composition is different as we age. Also, some sizing is not the same. I've wore one size for years. Then I went up a size for a few more years. I would like to get back to the previous size, but I think I'll be happy to wear my present size comfortably.

I don't know how 'legit' this question is, 'cause I know a lot has to do with different body frames, different body composition, etc, etc...but in general, how many pounds are us 5'3" and under-ers when we're a size 6? I honestly can barely remember being a size 6 and at that point I didn't care much about the number on the scale, so I have no idea what weight I was. So if anyone is a size six or was or is close to that or whatever, about how much do you weigh? (Uh oh, that sounds like such a rude question!) Thanks!
