Hi Lynnbaum...

I have Jillian's book MTC and loved it. I did her program twice but didn't really lose any weight. If you haven't gotten it, you should. She has a lot of great advice.

Hey Bemorestubborn...

Spark DOES recommend to get out of the mentality that "diet" is a good thing and certain foods are off limits. The trouble is, we are human and extremists. We get in the cycle of cookies are bad and fruit is good... but only if its a negative calorie fruit or has little sugar. Its CRAZY! We forget that we are setting ourselves up for a lifestyle change and we need to be sure that we can live within the lifestyle we created.

Metabolic Repair is also all about stopping the mentality, but it goes to great lengths to tell you why... what it is you are doing to the body, to your hormones, ect. No matter how you look at it, being in a calorie deficit for a long time is unhealthy. Some people here are lucky and figured out fast how to shed the unwanted pounds without resorting to eating 1000 calories a day. But lots of people are still left, on their never ending plateau, looking for help.

I think that spark is great in a way that it lets us share information and knowledge that we learned along the way.

Yay you that spark has done exactly what it is suppose to do... but for any of us stuck, check out metabolic repair... may be something that is helpful :)

Anybody ever check out jillian michaels books? BTW I took your test and I think it said put the ice cream down and if you want to get rid of those pounds keep it in the freezer, step away from that coffee you drink w/ the chocolate milk and get your but to the gym or walk that 4 legged thing. It did say I was doing a good job by getting those F & V in every day and for realizing that they both contain carbs and you don't need bread to get carbs. I think it also said those up calorie days are good but they shouldn't go on for a month. 1 day a week is good enough. You are right we do need to take the blinders off and really look at what we are doing to our bodies. BTW ms. 99 pound I will be on that elipical all weekend 2 miles per day. My cheeks just smile when they see it. Lynn emoticon I have also been doing those muffin top crunches with my daughter that were in last months her fitness.

Find my free blog chatthefat for the 27 rules I live by.

DANEENY: You bring up a good point...I too am restricting my calories to 1200 a day (sometimes 1300) and am doing a minimum of 400 min. of cardio a week plus strength training (115 -275 min a week) and I am "stuck"...I am not losing even a pound a week and don't know why. I am determined to stick with it and hope my scale starts showing me progress...as Vivian says "Be more stubborn than the scale"

The "diet mentality" - the persistent belief that certain foods are "bad" and "forbidden" and that we have to starve to lose weight is why diets fail and why yo-yo dieting has become a vicious cycle!

Following a healthy lifestyle where we eat a clean, balanced diet, eat frequently, incorporate cardio and strength training and do it consistently, is enjoyable, it works, and it lets you keep your results for a lifetime.

Exactly what SparkPeople recommends...

Hi all...

I'm a little gal just like you and am tired of only eating 1200 calories a day with 90 + minutes of exercise JUST so I don't gain. Seems like a lot... and does that mean I have to do this forever??

Not to long ago I began researching metabolic repair. I am one of those people that has been on a diet for so long that I can't remember NOT dieting. After taking the quiz I realized that I needed to do something and fast. I read it all the time... eat more to lose more. Well, I did that and GAINED 5 pounds! I thought that there has to be a better approach. I bought an ebook by Leigh Peele called METABOLIC REPAIR. Her system made sense and I began the program right before my vacation. I lost 2 pounds the first week! Then vacation.. I gained the 2 plus another 3... So, now I am beginning stage 1 of metabolic repair, again.

I thought that it would be a great idea to share this with other spark members and I started a team called METABOLIC REPAIR with the idea that any of us stuck at a weight or over training will benefit from it.

I hope to see you there! If you can't find it by name, check out my spark page... there is a link for this team there!!
