I just use my kitchen timer. It's rather small I can hold it or clip it to my sweatpants. I don't have anything portable to listen to music on. I could set myself a weight loss or fitness goal to save for one, but by the time that I saved enough money I would be finished training on the couch to 5k running plan.

there are podcasts fo rthe programme that tell you when to run and when to walk and its all set to music. Robert Ullery is the name of the guy who does them, ask in the couch to 5k team and someone will post the link
I've noticed that a few people are trying the Couch to 5K program and I'm thinking of giving it a try. Anyone have suggestions for a suitable stopwatch? My heart-rate monitor doesn't seem to have a convenient way of setting small increments like the 60 or 90 sec called for in the program. Is there really a way of doing this while running down the street or are most of you just going by distance?
