That is a great idea about bringing them to a family center...I will keep that in mind if the green boxes keep appearing!

I bought just two boxes this year based on the fact that I just didn't want them in the house. Thin mints right out of the freezer are my downfall too!

We have a local food pantry, so thanks for the idea. I'll donate them the next time I take groceries down there!

I will admit that this is one of the perfect situations in which to use in learning portion control...kind of a self test or training program....yearly even..... :)

The Girl Scout organization last year hosted a "giving" element to cookie sales. For people who didn't want the cookies they were able to purchase one to be given away. They didn't do it this year, but our troop still did. We intend to donate the cookies purchased to an area family center that helps families in need. If your area troop doesn't do it, you can always drive them there the day they are delivered IF you are strong enough. :) I just enjoy my yearly tradition and chalk it up as part of life I have to learn to live . . . I just need to work on portion control!!! :)

I wish my husband would do the same...don't get me wrong, I love supporting the kids, but not at the expense of my expanding backside (and thighs). I tell him, just give them the money and tell them to keep the cookies...or get anything but the thin mints...and it never fails, another dreaded green box appears in the freezer...

I found out last night that my husband buys them from a coworker (for their kids) and just leaves them at work!!! I guess he has been doing this for about 2 YEARS!!!
He just makes sure they don't put them out until after he leaves for the day and they are usually done before he gets there the next day....that way he is supporting the kids (and making unknown friends at work) without indulging in all those calories!!!
He didn't tell me so I didn't ask him to bring them home...lol...what a guy hu?

You are not alone! As everyone else said, we all have moments and you can't beat yourself up about it...tomorrow is another day...no worries.

It would be nice if the Girl Scouts could sell less fattening cookies...(but they probably wouldn't taste as good)...the thin mints are my weakness...they are so good! I have a box in my freezer...they are so good when they are cold (and even better with some vanilla ice cream)...

That PMS eating thing? That is actually hormonally driven. A biological drive to force us to store extra fat in preparation for becoming pregnant. It's really cavewoman stuff. From back when food was not guaranteed. So the drive is really hard to resist. I give in, eat more snacks and try to make up for it on other days and with more exercise. I figure I can't change my biology. I only buy GSC's that DH loves, I don't EVER get ones I would eat. Cuz, I would eat them. All of them. But he still hides his anyway. LOL

Those girl scout cookies are dangerous. I can't even have them in the house, since I would need to eat the whole box too. Tagalongs are my favorite as well.

LOL I am so glad we all had this conversation because I needed my OWN words last night. Let's just say that I had to calculate how many calories are in a box of Girl Scout tagalongs/peanutbutterpatties. (1200 by the way) THEY WERE FABULOUS! In the past I would have had 1/2 a box tonight, 1/2 tomorrow, 1/2 the day after that, taken a day off for guilt, 1/2 the next day (you see where I am headed). I have been SO GOOD for so long, but when we cracked into that box last night, ooohhh! Well, I'm done. They tasted GREAT, but as soon as they were gone the glory went with it. I never realized it before. MOMENTS on my lips and a week on my hips (because I will work those babies off QUICKLY!). My point is - we all do it from time to time. I can either beat myself up (which I am comfortable doing) or I can check it off and move on. (I am happy to report that somehow my husband did eat 2 of them . . . how he got his fingers in past me is beyond me, but I am glad he did! Oh - and don't think that's all he had. He had another box open of a kind I can take or leave.

Thanks for all of the feedback. It is nice to know that I am not alone (though I had my suspicions).

I never really thought about it as far as my lifestyle change. I AM going to keep this up for the rest of my life and have a good start at it...things will be a little different from now on...I am going to have to consider that....and chillax..now as long as I can wake up with this firmly in mind I will be in GREAT shape emoticon

I am always there, one day a month I am a major eating machine...I try to have as many 100 calorie treats in the house as I can get, and keep it to 3 treats or less at a time...
I usually gain 2 lbs at that time as well, but it usually leaves quickly after.

I feel that if I am going to have times like that I am going to enjoy it. They are going to happen so at least make them worth your while . . . kind of a lemons into lemonade thing. I have NEVER had this mindset before, but if this is going to be a lifelong way of living then I have to look at things differently. You are doing GREAT! (I have gone over by 100-200 SEVERAL times and it really hasn't slowed me down much -shockingly to myself!)

I wouldn't beat yourself up. Sometimes our body is just telling us that we are needing more calories. A couple hundred calories is a good way to spike your calorie intake like you had other times during the year.
One day is one day. YOu can't live your life being upset about one day, just more on to the next. Exercise a little more throughout the week and it will even itself out.

Don't fret too much about it. It's sometimes better to give in because fighting against it (as you mentioned) is not worth it. Especially with everything you have going on.

I also have PMS this week and ordered a gyro and fries for dinner last night. It's pretty much what I do when I get a craving like this. Since I've been losing weight, I've never put any back on. 95% of my diet is very healthy, but I'm bad 5% of the time.

Ok so I know I am about to have my monthly and on top of the usual irritabiliy and lack of modivation I am struggling with my eating as well. I have eaten above my calorie range a few times this year without guilt (they were "treats" and needed spikes) but yesterday I overate by a couple hundred calories and I am STILL kickin' myself!!! I know that this is not a good way to go but rational thinking is not really part of my scope during this week and a half of the month...

ADVISE???? Anything would be helpful! Thanks for listening!
