I have been in bed with the flu the last 3 days myself. I have not even stepped on a scale. I know that in the past I have gained weight while sick and not eating as much. I think it is alot like the concept of starving your body. When people go below thier calorie range they can actually gain weight instead of lose. I also have not been exercising. I think that is it just going to be a bad week. Oh well we all have them and just need to focus on getting healthy.
I am sorry for the rest of you who have gotten this flu, and hope you all get better quick. Thankfully, I woke up today and felt like a whole new person. My husband, who is enroute to Cali at the moment, however called to let me know it was his turn to have it. How horrible to have it while traveling! I can't even imagine.

I'm whining here I know, so I apologize, but I have never had an unhealthier month than Feb. I'm glad to see it go. The 2nd week I came down with tummy virus, terrible, missed my 1st day of work. The following week, my resistance was down I guess, and the full-fledged flu hit, fevers, chill, aches, cought that won't leave, the gamut. So I thought I was on the mend when I woke up yesterday with this weird viral thing called Vertigo. Called off work again and hope I can go back tomorrow. I couldn't even get out of bed because the world was swimming and teetering. Has anyone got this bug yet this season?
I didn't have the flu but I did have bronchitis so this last week needless to say I haven't worked out which the last 2 days I have been thinking I probably could but my body isn't really letting me. Thank goodness I haven't gained. It is hard when part of your routine is to workout and you can't. But it is better to be fully recovered so that you don't have a set back.

Sounds like you've had a terrible case of the flu! Don't worry about weight gain. My doctor told me that your body will do anything to not get dehydrated, especially while you are sick. You'll get back on track soon, so don't worry about anything but getting better!

You both . . . and anybody with this . . . just have to focus on feeding your body as healthy as you can and GET BETTER! Give your body a break so it will recover that much faster. I am a teacher in central IL this SAME thing is going around our school and kids are missing a week+ easy. Just when you think they should be getting better they start vomiting. Keep doing the spark articles and of course keep up with your Spark Buddies, but this may be one of those times we just have to realize "life happens". Now of course birthdays, weddings, and holidays are more fun "life happens" moments, but you have a new goal for the moment . . . get better! THEN you can bounce back to your goals of weight loss, fitness and health. TAKE CARE!

You have my sympathy. The bug going around here starts out with bad muscle cramps, headache, then the stomach acts up. Just when you think you're well, boom it leaves you with a chest/and or head cold. As luck would have it, mines in my chest and head. My kids each had it twice, though, before I finally caught it from them. That's all that fresh green food and vitamin water at work.

I have spent the last 10 days taking care of sick kids, then the last 4 with the stumach flu myself. For obvious reasons, I haven't eaten alot, but I have gained weight. In fact, I have noticed that if I slack off of my cardio at all, I gain. Is it a height thing, or just me?
