I think it's more important to measure in the same place all the time than where you measure (I think someone mentioned that already).

Discovery Health Challenge uses the belly button as does that show with Drs. Roizin and Oz (You on a Diet, I think)

It's the same story with hips...I've seen hips measured at the biggest part of the thighs and I've seen them measured where the hip bone is.

I've heard many ideas on this. The best for me was to choose one (my choice was 2 inches above the belly button) and stick with it. This way, every week I measure the exact same spot and get an accurate reading on if I'm really making progress or not. I'm happy to say that I am making progress. Might be slow, but it's progress. : )

Your waistline should be above your belly button, the smallest part of your torso. :) There is an article on here that tells you how to measure parts of your body, where they are.

Well I don't know about you but my belly button at one time was hanging quite low...so this is NOT where my waist measurements were taken..

Put your hands on your side and bend...and wherever the bend occurs is where your waist is.
Hope this makes sense.

Not a dumb question at all! I had to look it up before I did my own measurements when I first started Spark.

No matter what your torso size is, wrap a measuring tape around your middle right where your belly button is. That's where your waist is.

I've never had a professional bra fitting, and I know I should (I'm very top heavy). So don't be embarrassed. ;)

How do you know if your measuring your waist line if you have a short torso? I've never understood how is this a dumb question? I guess I've always been embarrassed to ask silly questions like this emoticon I seriously didn't start wearing the right bra size until my early 30's when I finally had the guts to have my measurements done why do women do silly things like that
