I would like to thank CLAIRESML & CELIAMINER, everyone who posted while I was gone!!! It takes more than 1 person to make & keep alive a team! You can not have a leader without a follower! When I took over this team the leader had not posted in 60/90 days, they wanted someone to lead team. I thought, sure I can help. They told me I was it. ME? Just a guy in Clifton Forge out of the whole state. 1st thing I did is find co-leaders to help, It does not have to be the 'leader' that has to do everything, every post helps.Someone looking may say 'well this team is alive". I am looking at be coming a leader of another team that has "died"

Hey guys!!! I have some exciting news. Back in November I was in a video for my insurance company, Humana. I use their coaching program and they wanted me to tell my story. The video is now available for viewing. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/eatch?v=bSH7Nh_NKuM

I think Spring is finally coming out. The temps are a little warmer and some daffodils are blooming. our pear tree has blooms on it. Last year we had a good crop of pears and were able to can a lot of them. DH has started some seeds in the greenhouse. We're planting lots of green peppers, tomatoes, green beans adn some summer squash. OUr freezer stores are dwindling so we need to stock up this year. Last year our garden didn't' do much. Hopefully this year it will be better.

Here in Appomattox we got 5" of snow !! We were suppose to get 1-3. A little miss on that. Oh well. It looks like a winter wonderland in the woods. The pine tress are bowed down with the snow. It is pretty. the birds are out at the feeders and the Cardinals look pretty against the snow.
I just want the temps to warm up and the sun to shine!!! I would feel so much better!!!

happy vernal equinox beautiful day here in Winchester. Hope I can do my 3 laps (a mile) around the jail (where I work) during lunch. I missed the gym yesterday to take kidz to school (spousal unit was out of town) and today (Dr,. appointment), but I hope to do what I can and get back to work out tomorrow.

Hi, I lived in the area all of my life. It is a great place to raise a family. There are good people here. I htink a job a hunt is the same anywhere you go. We have two major hospitals, UVA and Martha Jefferson. Not sure what price range you are lookimg at for apartments abut there are plenty with amenities, especially to help you keep up with your spark goals. Schools are great here. Apartments: take a look at lakeside or stoneycreek. Just one downer...if you have seasonal allergies, Good luck!

I've been either walking or slow jogging for fall and winter so far. Last year I frequently did Leslie Sansone's "Walk away the pounds' dvds indoors. They really work well for the entire body.....

You're welcome! I love to think of walking as transportation. One year we did 3 5 mile walks in 3 days and I got to thinking about how that could be a commute to work. Not MY commute, alas, I live 13 miles from work, but if I lived in a city I wonder if I would even own a car.
We had such a windy day yesterday I was nearly blown off the lane!

Thanks for reviving the topic, Bess. I love walking, too. In fact, it's about the only physical activity that appeals to me, and I can walk for hours.

I love walking outdoors in the cold weather - I am definitely NOT a summer girl so when the humidity in VA dries up in the fall, I'm out doors all the time. I also work out at a gym so I get the more focused workouts there - but it surprised me just how many calories I could work off taking a one hour stroll outdoors. Lots of parks in VA. Lots of interesting cities to see too. Hope you find some that feed your soul and shrink your body.

Great to see other Virginians! What excercising do you do in the Winter? I am such a Summer person that I get stumped when it comes to excercising all the time in the Winter. I love to swim, but can't do that everyday. I have a treadmill, but don't really know a good routine to begin on it. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone! Although I'm currently living in New Jersey, I'd like to relocate to Virginia, preferably around the Charlottesville/Louisa area. Is there anyone on this team that lives in that general area that could give me ideas on apartments and jobs? Thanks!

Hi, all! I took a few minutes to look through the whole page and noticed a link next to the new members section that leads to other teams in the Commonwealth. Did you know there are local teams as well as this one for all of Virginia? I also belong to the Northern Virginia Sparkers, which has monthly meetups, but there are also teams in southwest Virginia, the Tidewater area, and other regions.

Chesterfield is the county south west of Richmond. I am not very well versed on where towns are located in the state either. My husband has lived here since he was 7, so he knows where every major town and city is located... I just ask him. lol

Hello Stacy. Congratulations on all your accomplishments and well joining Spark again. I've reached a goal to get to 150lbs and now I'm on to the next goal which is getting to 140lbs but while doing so toning my body. I'm trying to incorporate exercise more and water but yeah it's a slow process. I'm new to VA and well love the beach as well. I'm originally from the the Jersey beaches. So the Hampton Roads is that near Virginia Beach?

I'll reintroduce myself since I've been distant from SP.
I'm Joanna and I live in Alexandria, VA. I'm new to the area completely. I moved from southern New Jersey 7 months ago and am trying to get used to the area. I'm 75lbs down since March 2010. I'd like to chat and get to know people around here so we can swap recipes and maybe work out together to stay on our healthy track.

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I live in Virginia Beach and have been here going on 12 years. Orginially from Michigan and my folks live in Reston, VA now. I do love the Hampton Roads area, its very family friendly and I love the ocean.
I was on SP about 6 years ago and now I am back. Its been 3 weeks and I am down 2 lbs. My energy levels are up and I am sleeping better. My biggest challenge is getting all 8 cups of water in. Yesterday I did it and today my mini-goal is to drink 8 cups of water again. My goal for the month is to make exercising a Top Priority in my life. So far, so good and I have worked out 5 days a week, even on the days that I just really don't want to. My Long Term goal (6 months) is to fit into a size 6 (I am currently a size 12).
So what is everyone's else goals? Mini-goal for today? Goal for the month? Long Term Goal?

Good evening, everyone! Two weeks tomorrow since joining SP. I have a question: i'm tarcing everything like I'm supposed to and came across a situation that I wasn't sure to do manage accurately. How do you total everything up when you are somewhere (a cast party) eating small amounts of several different things?
