Hey, if there are going to be a bunch of us reading Flight Behavior in February, how about another forum to discuss the book? That would motivate me to get started on it!

Yes, do! I hope you enjoy it as much as I. Although, when I am cuddled up reading for hours--I'm not moving! :)

I need to read Flight Behavior. I loved Poisonwood Bible, Animal Vegetable Miracle, and Prodigal summer, so I'm sure I'm going to enjoy Flight Behavior.

Barbara Kingsolver-Flight Behavior

Very sentimental and raw novel touching on the people of Appalachia and how climate change effects one family forever. Just finished it yesterday!

Finished "Outliers" by Malcolm Caldwell and loved it. Not an "environmental" book, but a fascinating look at what makes people extraordinary.

Just picked up a copy of "The Backyard Homestead" from the library. My husband and I bought a home 5 years ago because it sits on over a 1/2 acre. We've been trying to grow fruits and veggies with very little success. Hoping this book will give me some ideas.

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” -John Lennon

I've been reading Paul Tough's latest book - How Children Succeed. I recommend it, but not exactly an environmental book.

Oh, and the Dirty Life. I just read that at the end of last year. It's the story of a journalist from New York City who met an organic farmer and joined him in building and running a CSA that attempts to use animal power and organic growing to provide ALL the agricultural needs of a typical family, from veggies and grains to meat and fiber. It's a quick read and an interesting story.

Watched a YouTube video yesterday of Bill Moyers program from Jan. 4th. It's concerning why attention to the looming global warming catastrophe has been so slow to gain momentum. Here's a link:

A while ago my daughter sent me info about a book, Time to Eat the Dog?: the real guide to sustainable living. I was wondering whether any of you have read it, and whether there are other books, videos, etc., you'd recommend?
