I think I cook healthier, she didn;t cook when she got older but when she was younger she cooked heavy foods .

We always had a meat, vegetable, and carb. Sometimes more carbs than anything else. I think one of my favorite meals was a pot of red beans, cornbread and fried potatoes. These days it is mostly protein.
I have to admit, in hindsight, I think my parents (mom and dad) cooked fairly healthy - considering no one knew exactly what that was in the 1960s :-) There is a difference to the cooking methods though - no microwave ovens back then. But thinkinkg about the meals they were well balanced - protein, vegetable (good carb) and probably the bad carb (e.g. potato).

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
