Weigh in day for me. Lost 2 lbs this week. Not bad as I've broken my foot and haven't been able to exercise. Missed my first 5% mini goal by 2 lbs but still extremely happy I've lost 9 lbs since I started. Go me!

Been a week. Fell off the tracking wagon but still manage to exercise daily. Tried scootering for the first time with my son at the skate park. Jumped off my scooter going down hill and hurt my heel pretty bad. Was still able to scooter home even though I can't put any pressure on my heel so that worked out well. Was able to scooter again on Sunday and get some exercise in also with the scooter so got a good left leg workout. LOL I'm such a kid. I have all the gear now, help, wrist guards, knee pads. lol

Down 0.7lbs so managed to lose half of the 1.5 lbs gain last week but any down is a good down right. Still hoping to get close to my first mini-goal at next Monday's weigh in. Goal is 3.8 lbs. Lets see how close I get.

I'm making a big effort to eat right, follow the plan, record everything and will try and get some scootering and rowing in this week since I can't do much weight baring standing stuff.

I feel your pain. Last week I woke up to bulldozers at 6:00am on a Saturday. I had visions of my pristine palace in the outskirts being invaded by bulldozers for a summer long extravaganza of tearing up the field behind us and starting construction on several dozen houses to make a new subdivision. Fortunately, I was over reacting and they were just doing street maintenance. Also we live right by the airport, which doesn't help, but the hours they keep are a little more civil than your train story! Glad you made lemonade out of lemons and put your anger to good calorie burning use! Thanks for the encouragement. My efforts are paying off. Down 13 lbs!...BYG

At exactly 5:20am, I got woken up by a train blast. The loudest, most offensive train blast ever. I've lived in my area for 5 years and I've never been woken up by the horns but this offensive blast not only woke me up but went on and off continuously with about 2 seconds between blasts until 5:36am. Yes, I kept track of the time. It is the first time ever I have filed a complaint with the City regarding a train.

Even the crows complained. They were all up and squawking loudly as if to tell me "Did you hear that. How rude. They woke me up. Stupid humans with their stupid giant hard worms. Honestly. How can a bird get any sleep around here."

I was up, I was pissed, it was an amazing workout. I punched the air really really really hard! Back to bed for me. lol

Morning Ladies,

Weigh-in day for me. I am very happy to report that even with my sushi rice (3 cups) and popcicle (4) binge, I am down 0.8 lbs this week. Total lost since I started June 15 is 8 LBS!!

I am super exited as I was lucky if I lost 1.5 lbs in 4 months!!!

I'm only 3 lbs until my first mini-goal on August 4. Motivated!

I didn't workout Sunday. It was 30 degrees C in my next of the woods. Way to HOT to do anything except knit in my bathing suit with a fan blowing on me watching Stargate Atlantis reruns. lol

20 minutes time saver workout finished. Hoping to get in some bowling with my son this weekend.

Personal note:
My son and I went grocery shopping. We shop for sale items only as I'm on a super tight budget as a solo parent. We hit the till and my son says "Mommy, KitKat's are on sale for $0.99. It's on sale. That means I can have one right?" My little chocolate bargain hunter. Yes, he got it. I don't want to discourage smart shopping in my 5 year old. lol

Keep it up! Looks like you have a doable plan. I started again about a month ago too. Hoping to lose a few more before Aug 1. Lost 11 so far. Trying to do a little something everyday, mostly trying to follow the 3 steps.

Sticking to my eating plan, craving my 20 minute morning workout and 30 minute lunch walks a lot lately (Never thought I would say that). Feeling fabulous even if I am a size 16 and my belly is protruding, I feel awesome in my clothes because I know I am doing something life changing for me.

My best strategy for staying on track on weekends
1) pack my lunch and snacks as if I was going to work and take my lunchbag with me.
2) record everything I eat as I go on the sparkpeople phone ap.

I am back to battle the bulge again. I've hit my heaviest and this time, I'm not gaining it back.

Stats for me.
Starting
June 15 - 218.9 lbs
June 23 - 217.4 lbs (1.5 lbs loss)
June 30 - 213.8 lbs (3.4 lbs loss)
July 5 - 211.8 lbs (2 lbs loss)

Exercise:
20 minutes Kathy Smith low-impact time saver workout. (4-6x/week)
30 minutes walk during lunch at work (3-5x/week)

Food
Mon, Wed, Fri 1200-1300 cal/day
Tue, Thu, Sat 1500-1600 cal/day
Sun 2000-2100/day

GOALS

WEIGHT
1st Goal = 5% (11 lbs) = 208 lbs by August 4, 2014

FOOD
Watch portion sizes. Eat between 300-350/main meals 100-150 cal/ snacks,Limit sugar, eat protein with every meal. Eat at set hours 7:30am, 10:00am, 12:30, 3pm, 5:30-6, 8:30pm

EXERCISE
Finish the workouts, even if it is a half-ass attempt. It seems to be working as I'm losing weight consistently so far.

Looking forward to reading up on you ladies progress.

I have NOT been doing so great... I seem to be way too busy to keep my fitness minutes up enough to counter act my eating. Im going tonight for a two hour full body workout with a girlfriend. But the rest of the week is full until Sat. emoticon I can't tell you HOW much I miss my regular workouts! I might have to just start getting up a half hour earlier and hit the pavement for a short run in the mornings just to get some fitness in.

My hours at work are nuts 7-6 every day right now and then I have toastmasters wed and this week I have two meetings for that and then we seem to have company coming again this weekend so again, i will have to get up early and sneak off for a quick run to be able to get any minutes in.

thanks heather, but i have really gone downill since than, pulled my back out 2 weeks ago and been in a dump since, eating really bad and i have put back 8 pounds so monday is a new start for me.

hope u are all doing well, I am very happy to say that I was able to finish the 8k in less time that I thought I would, it was really inspiring and emotional to see a blind runner doing the half marathon with her guide, wow! the conditions was terrible, it rained the whole time and cold and yucky. we stayed behind to wait for my friend who was doing the full marathon.

Sookgal - good questions, i will reply as best as i can.

no the competitors can power walk, use the nordic poles, run, or i call it WOG meaning walk and jog, that is what I did in the last half marathon last year. I sped walked the whole thing and it took me 3:20 mins to do 22k.
I am not a runner, and so i jog and walk a bit, i am slow, it took me 1.07 to do the 8k

sookgal - you can do this, you can walk, jog, walk to the finish line. it is a overwhelming feeling.
come and join me, I have signed up for the first ever Rock and Roll half marathon in October.


wow Junebug - that is a lot of walking and wow that is approx half marathon u have done, i like your cakes that you have posted on your page . Very cleaver, did u take a course?

My goal was 20km this week and I got in 20.2 as of today! I am actually more amazed the old dog has survived these walks, he's 13!

Wow, hockey, 8k run?! That is emoticon Do the competitors run the whole 8k or do people walk some of it? I have always wondered that. I have never entered a race before but it would be cool but I am never sure if everyone actually runs the whole thing. I am not able to run a whole 5k yet. I can run the better part of one but for me to get through a 5k outside takes about 35 minutes and depending on the circumstances, I would need to walk about 6 to 8 minutes of that time, give or take.
Anyways, GOOD FOR YOU! I always admire people that are able to just go and do such things. I would overthink the thing to death until I talked myself out of it because of every little thing that would go wrong.

Berrymary, way to go on choosing to walk. Now you set your bar for conquering that hill with less fatigue than your first time at it! Making healthy choices are so empowering! emoticon

I hope everyone else here is doing well and working at reaching their goals. emoticon

hey everyone,

i just dropped my car off at the shop and the girl there asked if i wanted the shuttle to take me home, i said no i'll walk. it took 40 mins and was up hill about half the way, boy am i pooped, but i feel great, like i can do anything.

Hey Everyone

We had a great long weekend! Was lots of work to be done here though, we are doing our roof. We did have a great easter dinner and took the kids to the easter egg hunt at the park! All and all a very productive weekend. The roof is 3/4 done and my husband just got home from work and is back up there. I am on dinner and clean up the last of the shingles on the driveway. Got a great workout picking up shingles and cooking for all the helpers. I do have a sore back though so am taking it a bit easy today, just a nice walk this morning and tidying up the house
Hope everyone had a great one with there families and friends.

Hi BC Girls! Hope everyone had a good long weekend! I did a lot of work in the orchard which, this weekend, was comprised of walking up and down the rows laying irrigation tape so I think in totally I probably walked about 10 miles this weekend. I also rode a couple of times and had a nice dinner out with DH on Friday night.

Welcome, Berrymary! Weight loss and fitness definitely start with small steps and work up to more intentional fitness minutes that are actually enjoyable and not so much like a chore and before long, bam! you will notice your pants are looser, you feel better overall and have more energy! Itís such an empowering feeling! Way to go! And that, Hockey47 is pretty much my story: started with small changes, joined a great challenge on SP: the BLC (Biggest Loser Challenge), stepped up to the challenges that 12 week awesome group threw down and slowly but surely, the pounds slipped away. Most importantly for me, I did not deprive myself of anything; I just made sure I had a better balance in my life of freggies (fruits and veggies) and intentional fitness (strength training was a crucial part of that).

No matter how much weight we wish to lose or how much we want to switch up our lifestyle, itís important to keep it manageable and to keep persevering. All of us can do it!

Good afternoon everyone, I'm in Prince George. I just started the site today and have added 4 work outs from the last week,i have decided I'm tired of the way i look and feel and need to do something about it. My biggest supporter is my 4 year old step daughter, who asks me everyday i see her to go on a walk.at first i said no i was too tired, but later decided that even a short walk is better than sitting around doing nothing. Now 2 weeks in i look forward to the walks. We usually go for about half an hour but i found that is the perfect amount for the fitness tracker. Now i just need to get my butt in gear and work out without her and have our walks as extra. Wish me luck.

i am in the same way about running, i am working on 8k right now , but i wogg, i am registered for the 8k race in BMO Marathon and i have 1:30 to finish this to get the medal so i really hope to work to be able to do this.

I feel the same way about jogging! I get bored so easy!
But I tell my self maybe if I keep going eventually it will stick!

RICKYDAF it usually happens like that one after the other.. Moms (grand, great grand,step, or parent) work is never done! I hope the work out was great today!~

I got to the gym today! So i feel accomplished!

Everyone have a good weekend! The weekend is always a struggle for me. Maybe I should visit from my phone app. Maybe that will keep me on track :)

Hello BC Girls! Just a quick hi for now. emoticon
I was in the BLC24 challenge and it ended yesterday and will start up again at the end of April so I will take this time to post in the other teams I am on. It's great to see some chat on here and it sounds like all of you are doing well at persevering and eating well and exercising! emoticon
I have been maintaining since losing about 30 pounds over a year ago and my goal for BLC was to lose 6 pounds which I just barely did. I had that rotten cold last week and could not taste much so didn't feel like eating too much.

Lisa, way to go on the jogging. I have grown to enjoy jogging too but I can only manage about 5k and then I lose interest. But if it weren't for that 5K Walk/Jog Team through SP I would not have ever been able to walk/jog that much at one time. It was a great way for me to work up in distance and running time!
Louisav, welcome to this group! You seem really committed to losing the rest of your weight. Woo hoo!

Morning,

The jogging is going great :) I am loving it,feel refreshed after. Baby is feeling much better thankfully. I am feeling fine, just everyone else is not feeling great. They all have the head cold that was going around. But all on the mend :)
Didn't get to the gym this morning so will be off for a nice run this afternoon! Looking forward to the nice warm sunny day! Have a great one

wow your kids must keep you busy! enjoy them, they do grow up fast
the chicken in crockpot sounds great, and low fat.
as for new ideas of cooking healthy and low fat, there are lot of info online to check out


rickydaf - how is the jogging coming along? i finally able to wogg a 5k through the park today and it was under my time, so i am happy.

Kudos to you for still getting off your behind and going for that walk! I know itís so much easier to just sleep when we are sick! But no pain no gain!

I hope today was a better day for you!
I just got to work and already my day has consisted of the gym, meal prep and mommy duties!

I have to say! I put some chicken breast in the crockpot when I arrived home after work and dropping the kidos off to school, we had a family bbq on Sunday I had some left over salsa! I added that to my chicken and it was the best thing I could have done for my tummy and taste buds!
This life style its created a challenge in the kitchen that I have taken on and love it!
FOOD IS MY COMFORT! Again I hope you feel well better and Happy Hump Day!

Welcome to the group Louisav! Congratulations on your success this last year that's awesome. I used to feel more secure at a heavier weight but its getting easier to love me the way I am. I have been focusing on how I am feeling on the inside and just taking small steps at a time. I usually go hard and burnout to quick. With these small steps I have now been here 100 days in a row :) It will get easier Louisav! Welcome again and keep sparking!!

I didn't get to the gym this morning, I was at a meeting late last night so going for a walk/run after the kids get home from school and I am off grandma babysitting duties :). Seems that cold that's going around has hit my daughter, son and grandbaby. So lots of snuggles and cuddle time.
I did my measurements again, have taken some time off and I am happy I did. Since Christmas I have lost 18 inches :) The scale is still not moving right now but I am now into a size 8 dress and into a size 31 jeans. Back at Christmas I was in a 14 dress and 34 size jeans. Celebrating the small successes :) Happy Tuesday!

Good Morning and hello to all!
I decided to introduce my self on the "chit chat" forum because it seems this is where most of the action is happening emoticon
I am pretty new to the site and have been working out and involved in a healthier life style since my birthday almost a year ago (June). I started out at 198 whopping pounds!
I am now at 165 and 5'1. I am currently ok with my number but I would still like to drop 20 more pounds and tone up. I am a single mom of 2 crazy kids and I work grave yards, I am always here browsing around while I am at work and I've just downloaded the app and calorie counter on my phone! Yay!!! I am hoping to keep motivated and hope I help n motivating others!
I currently struggle with feeling great about my new look! Feels so weird that I felt so much more confident when I was heavier! ANYONE ELSE??

Wow its Thursday already!!
Its been a busy week. Kids are back into school so I am supposed to be back at the gym. I started out alright but the last two days have been difficult to get out of bed...lol But on the bright side the sun has been shinning so I have gone out and enjoyed that...so yes no gym but a walk or run in the sun is way more fun. So its ok :) Still getting a workout in so I am feeling great.

Tuesday I had a very emotional day, but it was so needed and I am feeling much better about myself. Baby Steps :) Starting off April spending time on me and spending every beautiful day outside is the plan :) Hope everyone is having a great Thursday :)

How did everyone's Monday Go? I hope it went fabulously!

Lets see how many minutes we can get in this week girls....

Im off to Calgary to visit my girlfriend on Thursday for 5 days... for some mucho needed girl time including a girls night out at the Ranchman which I can't WAIT for. Im a total country girl and I am craving some two steppin madness. emoticon

My goal is to hit the gym mon, tues and wed and then hopefully saturday with my girlfriend.

Oh yes, Im taking my workout clothes with me!

had a great run this morning at run club!! Then did some shopping so got lots of walking in as well :) Back to the gym on monday! I guess I am more motivated to go to the gym when I have to get kids to school. Gotta love routines :) Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I got some medical news last week which means I need more surgery :( Don't want to gain all I have already lost so trying to find my mojo again to push on...Just wish I new when to expect this procedure, waiting sucks! Sometimes when we are overwhelmed or sick we tend to roll backwards, by stopping and looking at things in smaller pieces it makes it easier to keep on pushing. You can do this girl. Keep pushing

Hope your weekend is going well!
I just got back from the gym and thought I would pop by this page and see what's been going on.
Heather - I love that pic of you, it's really good!
Hockey - sorry to hear you're struggling. Keeping on track is not always easy but we do have to take it a little easy on ourselves and keep persevering!

Yesterday was great, I finished work early and then I met up with my son and his GF and we went to Kelowna to see YES in concert. It was a great show. We had a bite to eat at Kelly O'Bryan's first and had a couple beers there and then just drank water at the concert so even though it was non exercise day, I think I still managed to stay in my calorie goal give or take a smidgen.

Today it is COLD out. Where in the heck is spring!!!?? I think it's been hovering around 0 almost all day. I want to go to the horses and sneak in a ride today but I'm feeling kind of wimpy but I think I will just do it. I won't freeze. I will dress warmly and once I get moving around, brushing them and what not, I will manage to keep warm.

This is a great day for me as it's the first weekend that I have not been doing any orchard work with my hubby and essentially I have the whole weekend to myself! This is a real treat and I am so far really enjoying my Saturday, freezing cold or not!

Well, I better go get my winter woollies on again and head to the "herd".

spring is almost here and spring break is also here, my girls are house sitting and one of the houses is in southlands where the horse owners have stables, it is a beautiful place and i went there with the dog yesterday for a walk as i had the day off.

The swans must be amazing to watch.

Heather, has your headache gone away?

Lisa - sometimes a quieter place will be wonderful to live in instead of the rat race.

i am really struggling with the weight loss and seem to have really fallen off track.
i am going to write in a food journal and see how that gets me focused.

Good afternoon. The sun is high and the wind is bitter, bu the swans were spotted, the ice on the river is getting thin and there is brown grass being spotted, so spring is on the way. My parents neighbours spotted swans, but they were gone when I got out to the field. I'm sure there are more on the way though, then the snow geese will start and finally all the birds will arrive. This area/town is a huge migratory bird area and we have a santuary at the river. They come in the thousands, land on the big open fields and many bird people come to take photos. It's very exciting. It also means I'm getting ready to start walking outside, waiting for the huge pools of ice and water to drain; as the top is melting but the ground is still quite frozen. In town the snow is melting but out of town its just starting to break up. Woo hoo!! Gotta love mud season, oops I mean spring. ;)

Morning,
Yesterday I got out for a nice walk with a friend....was beautiful...sorry lower mainland I stole the sunshine :) Then this morning got back at the gym!!!
Hope you feel better today Heather....good job on the St Pattys day Run Hockey :) I have an hour drive into Kamloops Tridreamz...little town of 1200 people!! Much more relaxed then city life...but I love it and going to the city is fun once and awhile. I do love the area we live, so much to do outdoors :)
Today off to Kamloops for some tests...and a great lunch with some ladies :) Hope you all have a fabulous Monday!! Spring Break time ROCKS!!

It rained but you STILL DID IT Hockey! YOU GO GIRL!

Ive been fighting a migraine for well over a week.... it has NOT BEEN fun that is for sure.

Im so busy I feel like my head is spinning, we have decided to make some big leaps in our life and wowza now I feel like the race is ON. My friend would say that is nothing new for me though lol.

hi everyone

rainy weather in vancouver but it held off for the st patricks 5k race, wow it is amazing how out of shape one can be, it use to take 35 mins to do a 5k now today was 49 mins,
oh well

it was fun

The rush hour wasn't to bad. Got really busy as we hit Coquitlam but we made great time. I live up near Kamloops on Hwy 1. Beautiful little town of 1200 people, so the city is busy all the time compared to here. It usually is a 5 hour drive from here to Vancouver, but I was staying in Mission so its usually about 3 and a half but we stop a few times along the way to break it up :)
First day at runclub was great! Tonight we are out for couple date night :) So nice to be home!!

Lisa - how was your rush hour driving to our city? whereabouts in the interior do you live and how long does it take u usually?
wish you luck and fun with your running club, i joined one few years ago as my first goal was to run a 5k and i tell you that when i did the Breast Cancer run and jogged the whole thing it was a awesome feeling.

aah children hospital, my friend volunteers there regularly, she really likes spending time with the children.


went to pick up my race kit at the running room for saturday st paddy race, i really dont like drving downtown.

my kids are 18, 14 and 12. I am down for my youngest
She sees many specialists at children's so we are down often. She has issues with lots of walking so we are limited to not going far. I should have brought her mobility stroller ...next time I will for sure.
I start run club on Saturday and will get a personal trainers support for 6 weeks I am so excited for it. In the end I plan on running my first 5 km...
anyways off to get ready to tackle the rush hour into Vancouver. Have a great day.

glad you are feeling better Heather, where would u be getting a personal trainer from? Do you know someone that is good? i had a trainer 2 years ago and she was amazing, she teaches i believe out of Goodlife fitness now.

Good Morning Everyone,


Did two hours of Salsa last night... so much fun!

I miraculously recovered from my cold and so Im headed to the gym this morning for my scheduled gym time.

Gonna pick up a trainers form today, I want 10 sessions with a personal trainer to help me tone this body up for summer.... I really really want to wear a bikini this year. NEVER in my life have I worn one so in my (29th yr) LOLOLOLOL I can't wait!

I have toastmasters tonight my second meeting... can't wait!

Good Morning Everyone

rainy and cold in my area

did the insanity workout on thrusday, i modified a lot but still sore friday morning

today going to walk the dog with a new bunch of dog walkers this morning and than a nice dinner with friends.


wow Lisa, that is amazing 13 inch loss, emoticon emoticon

lol, the line dancing i do is contemporary, salsa, tango etc. not cowboy danicng, i am very uncordinated and the prob the worst in the class but i have a great time laughing

Congratulations on the 13 inch loss, that is terrific Lisa.

Well the snow is falling........and falling and I'm so over it all. It'll make the skiiers happy but the rest of us, it's becoming exhausting. Our little Sparks on Monday were hyper to the max! I had to toss out the plan and take them to the gym to run laps. They were so full of energy that they did not know what to do with themselves. I booked the gym for Monday (again), and we'll do more running games, burn off the energy. However, we are supposed to do a walk-about in town on the 17th and I really can't see it happening, if this continues. We don't start until 6PM, so it's tough on little ones to trudge through the snow and cold to have a picnic in a parking lot and return back. It's the "Getting to Know Your Community" Keeper, so I will have to look and see if we can simply do a visit to the police station instead.........then talk a police officer into volunteering his time.

Or maybe we'll be surprised and by then it'll be spring. Oh sorry that noise was me falling on the floor laughing, we all suspect that we'll never see spring again. haha!

I used to line dance when it was the rage in the 90s. I wasn't a big fan. I used to joke that it was simply "disco dancing for cowboys." haha! It is a work-out though, that's for sure. Salsa dancing would also be quite the work-out. Fun ways to be active. :D

That's funny you mentioning about renewing your vows , we are planning to do the same for our 25 the wedding anniversary ... 3 years from now

13 inches is A LOT!!!!!! Way to go, you rock!!!!!!! Your right measurements are important

Two super busy days but were great!!! Still got my workouts in and then some :) We have decided to renew our vows next year :) More motivation to keep me focused as well. So we started the fun dress hunt...in that discovery I have hit a goal I was hoping for the end of the month :) I was so happy I was doing a happy dance in the store and embarrassed my daughter ..lol. I have lost 13 inches, 15 pounds and 3 dress sizes!! Its amazing how great I feel and am so sparked to keep it up...I really hate plateaus but now I see why we have them...so our muscles can tighten up...so Measurements are SOOO important!! Hope everyone has a great Thursday!! Happy Sparking!
