My 2 favorite quick breakfasts are: cottage cheese with fruit or homemade kefir with granola and fruit. A good start to the day!

Steel cut oats in a crockpot - then you can keep it in the fridge and warm it up each morning.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day because it's so easy to make it healthy and clean. There are a ton of recipes for baked steel cut oatmeal or slow cooker steel cut oats on the internet. I like to make a big batch on the weekends and serve it out over the course of the week to reheat. The possibilities for additions are endless. I like apples, peaches, blueberries, nuts, bananas, pumpkin, raspberries -- basically anything you can think of.

I also prepare a big batch of clean pancakes or waffles on the weekend that I can pop in the toaster to reheat in the mornings. I'll add peanut butter for protein and some fruit to round it out as a meal.

I also like Greek yogurt (Tillamook is my favorite, if you can find it), with high protein granola (like Bear Naked honey almond), and fresh berries.

I second the recommendations for Ezekiel bread and natural peanut butter. I could basically live on that, really. I like to slice up an apple on top, too.

I also second the recommendation for brown rice breakfast cereal. If you have a rice cooker, it's so easy to make a big batch on the weekends. I add low-fat milk and blueberries and a little maple syrup when I warm it up in the mornings. You can do the same thing with barley or farro, which makes a nice change from the standard oatmeal.

Cottage cheese and fresh fruit is delicious and filling.

Alvarado Street bakery makes clean bagels that are really, really tasty.

Nothing beats a fresh smoothie to get your vitamins and enzymes and start your day off with ENERGY! I make mine with frozen fruit (usually 1/2 banana, 1 c strawberries, and 1 cup bluberries), water, and 2 T of Nutiva hemp protein. Fills me up and tastes great too.

I've never tried the chia seeds yet, but have heard good things about them.

And flax seed just doesn't agree with me. I have tried flax (and have a jar in my cabinet as I write) and it just smells rancid -- freshly opened container. I can get past it. Ugh!

But, I will be trying the chia someday.

TODAY . . . eating late and going lite until lunch. A banana!

Plain yogurt, a banana and pineapple with honey, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
A sprinkle of finely chopped nuts on top for a little crunch.
Yum!

I like a simple fried egg surprisingly it is pretty fast. Just a few min. in the skillet and it's done. I put on a slice of bread and eat. Literally 5 min. Less time than it takes to go through a drive through. Now, the coffee . . . I get it at work. But, a little OJ is always a good accompanyment.

A few hours later I am ready for a snack. Usually a banana or orange, sometimes a pear or peach or grapes.

We do not have that brand here I would love to try it.
I usually eat when I get to work, I just have a half bagel or a wheat waffle with chia seeds on whichever I have.
Twice a week I try to get a cup of ceral with coconut milk in.

Terrie,

I was just looking for breakfast ideas. I would love to see this recipe. I do like eggs and spinach. Sometimes I made eggs with spinach. I usually skip breakfast or eat bad, like when I make my kids lunches, I take bites of the meat or cheese or bread, or I have cookies with my coffee. Bad, right? emoticon

I love eggs. This weekend I made a crustless quiche and split it up to take to work. So easy and delish! Put some cheese, onions and spinach in it.

Here are a few idea starters that I have made at one time or another.

I like the steel-cut oats with applesauce (1/2 and 1/2), cinnamon, honey. A pinch of salt, and a little vanilla adds flavor here if desired.
I also like raisins, walnuts or pecans too, but use sparingly or at option.

Try toast, bagel, pita, muffin, etc. . . . . (of a healthy, organic variety) with vegetable stir-fry or even topped with a meat or a cheese option on occasion.

Pan fry a sliced apple with a banana, nuts, and maple syrup and put in a pita or wrap.

Brown rice is a good choice too! You can add a little honey, cinnamon, toasted almonds, raisins, etc. You can make up a big batch of rice and use it in different ways all week for any meal.

Banana's (or any fruit) with plain Greek yogurt, add honey or maple syrup for sweetening.

A pinch of salt and a little vanilla for flavor enhancing, may also be desirable.

The primary goal for me was to limit processed (with unknown additives) foods, from there as you can afford strive for organic, GMO free, no sugar, etc. I make and grow much of my own food, but do make exceptions from time to time. (Like this holiday season I went off the deep end and made and ate too many sugar and fatty foods and gained 8 lbs.---I also felt bad, sugar rushes, sluggish, bloating, etc.) I really was anxious to get back to eating right.

If you are counting calories, don't forget that everything you add counts up, even if it
is good for you.

I find the better I eat, the less appealing the 'old' foods have become. I also eat less because I am more satisfied. Good luck in finding your favorites.

Steel cut takes to long during week. I need to make some and take to work though.
I love a 1/2 cup berries and 1 cup of high fiber cereal with coconut milk. With chia seeds on top.
