Lots of good comments on this thread. I have been reheating leftovers on the stove, which means more dishes to wash, as I don't put many pots n pans in DWasher. AND I haven't been using my MW nearly as much. like 95 % less than I did before. I did get Arrowhead water a couple months ago and opted for the dispenser that is electric and has both HOT and COLD water taps and I am enjoying it a lot. I like it because I can make a cup of tea as soon as the mood hits. Also the cold water is so nice here in HOT Arizona!! I used to MW water a couple times daily for my teas.

I try not to microwave foods too often. If in a pinch I will heat up something quick, otherwise, I boil my vacuum sealed bags of leftovers. The heat all together and the flavor is awesome and I believe much healthier.

Microwaving, as I understand it, disrupts and somewhat changes the molecules of water and food. I'm not too crazy about that!!

Darn, I cannot find that site about the mw water again. I did buy a couple sets of all glass food storage containers. It cost a bit, but it feels good to get rid of the plastics.....

I found a website that researched what heating water does to the molecules of the water, it showed pictures of the distorted water molecule under a microscope. It was definitely changed. I will try to find that site, I may have bookmarked it for later reading. If I can find it, and i will try, I will post a link to that site. I did stop heating water in the MW. I did also end up getting arrowhead water delivery and a cooler/heater spigots for both hot and cold water. I figured out that I was spending about the same on gallons of water from the store a month. Plastic bottles and the store water always had a plasticy taste...... the arrowhead bottles, as was said on their site, does not have BPA, nor do they leach chemicals into the water. Also the bottles are only used 20 times before being recycled. Much easier getting the water delivered..........AZ tapwater is quite nasty and highly chlorinated!!!

I recently read an article that said food should never be reheated or cooked in a microwave but I have not seen any studies published regarding it. I only use glass dishes to reheat my food.

I'm not losing weight...I'm getting rid of it! I have not intention of finding it again!

We only reheat or use it to heat water. I need to make sure we heat on plates and no plastic.

Now that you mention it, quite a while back there use to be a lot of talk about microwaves not being healthy and then all of that "talk" went away. From what I have read, any cooking takes away some of the nutrients in food - thus the start of the raw food diet - so it would make sense that the microwave would strip some nutrients from the food. I wouldn't be suprised if microwaving food is dangers. Something for the team to research.

I only heat water in mine, most of my prep is done the old fashioned way. Stove. If you were to reheat foods, just make sure they are on or in glass containers. Absolutely no plastic.

Is microwaved food really healthy? I read that it denatures the food and the vitamins within the food, making it less bioavailable for the body's nutritional needs.

Any feedback on this??
