Great information and websites! I have been struggling to stay on track for the past couple years. I used to eat so incredibly healthy, but have strayed away from it with stress from working more and college. I am slowly getting back into it and am excited!

Don't have time to cook every day and finding it hard to get through my usual work week pre-cooking since veggies/raw food doesn't last as long.

Thanks y'all!!!

I have already given up sodas and I don't eat fast food nor fried. I try to limit sweets. I just change one thing at a time and I do have the bulk of anything preservative out of the house. I am just now making the change to eating more fruits and veggies and lean meats. (which kind of already have been doing) So it's not too much of a big change. It's for the healthier, I will still eat bread, wheat bread the right kind I guess and maybe gluten free as well. I have that thyroid condition and I think some gluten free things may help.

I FINALLY put in my notice at work!! YAY!!!! I will start my new job on the 13th of June and I am so ready!!! Can't wait, having a lifestyle change and things are going well...

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

I know what you mean about feeling like it's overwhelming, but the good news is that it doesn't have to be! We set ourselves up for perfection too much...eating is just not one of those things that was meant to be compartmentalized that way, I think. I think there are too many variables to keep up with, and so I am relaxing alot more as I get older. It should be a source of joy, and a source of good energy. I've come a really long way in the past year or so-I've dramatically reduced the amount of added sugars, I've ditched soft drinks, I'm eating far more greens and veggies, and doing smoothies, but I still find myself sometimes getting caught up in the idea of making things just a little cleaner. I gave up wheat when I didn't really have to-I cut out meats for a while too (I feel better with them). It's easy to forget where to draw the lines for things, but you have to go with a lot of trial and error to figure it out.

If I were you, I'd focus on just one or two things you'd like to change, and then just work on those for several months until they become habit. For me, I quit sugary desserts and white flour, but allowed myself artificial sweeteners. Then, several months later, I was able to cut those down/out, and then I worked on removing the diet sodas (haaaard!). Now the only thing I drink is distilled water with lemon and it's all I really want. Amazing to say, since i was a total soda freak! After that, I worked on ways to eat more veggies-which I found adding them to smoothies to be fantastic!

As embarrassing as it is to admit, I've been a Clean Eating Magazine subscriber for a few years...I have piles of them, and I rarely ever cooked from them because I generally hate cooking. Now, that's changed. I'm going back through and finding AWESOME recipes that are simple...like today, I made a basil and apple salad with lemon infused baked Tempeh in place of croutons. It was absolutely yummy, and a monkey could do it! So, my advice is to get the magazine and pick out a few recipes to try and keep them simple.

Secondly, I took a day and went through my pantry. I put all the crap food-like the bag of M&M's I had hidden behind the chili cans, or the Jiffy PB, into a box and took it to my sister-who doesn't care a lick about eating clean. I then inventoried what I had left, and built my weekly menus from there. You don't have to throw everything out to get a grip...just build on your perishibles first so you can keep things rolling. Then, after that, you're going to the store for little things here and there as you run out or want to try a new recipe.

Hope this helps!
TG

Hi, you said you had found a website, what is it?

Have you also checked out Tosca's pages? she has some pretty good recipes.

eatingcleanmag.com and look for "around the table" or something like that.

Have a great 3 day weekend.

You might want to check out beyonddiet.com. Isabella has some good recipes and tips on her website. My husband and I have been converting to eating clean since January and I can tell you that it is overwhelming at first, but it does get easier and you learn to love the taste of food without sugar and chemicals! While it may seem expensive at first, our grocery bill has actually gone down. Best of luck and Happy Memorial Day! emoticon

I am so glad it's Friday and we have a 3 day weekend. I am so hoping Tuesday when we come back to work I get a call from my new job to discuss the start date...So ready for a more healthy environment. I have done horrible these last couple weeks with exercising and eating...I'm slowly getting back on track but it's a struggle.

I am still trying to prepare for my clean eating. I guess I just don't know where to begin. I have been trying to not eat preservatives. I have to wait till pay day to buy my fruits and veggies. I feel like a lost goose. LOL!! I found a great site I am trying to learn but it's still confusing to me. This is the first time I have tried to eat clean, I won't have my son for about 6 weeks and I thought it'd be a great time to clean out the kitchen and go clean...I don't eat fast food hardly (these last two weeks I have tho and feel ugh), I don't drink sodas, I drink nothing but water or crystal light. I know lean meats like chicken and fish (my son is allergic to fish well seafood) and I use ground turkey or sirloin if I need it. I know anything well most things around the perimeter (spelling) of the store. Being Sicilian the breads and pasta is what will be hard but I have found a pasta that is made with wheat but looks like normal pasta it's by barilla. I am TRYING to rid of the sugars out of the house that is my weakness. I don't eat it a lot but I love it. (used to but have managed to limit myself)

Trying to search and find "clean" recipes is not as easy as I thought...If anyone has some insight that can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend!!
