I love smoothies so much and have one just about every morning. You can almost clean out your fridge when adding ingredients. I usually add yogurt, spinach, a beet, carrot and whatever fruits I have on hand. I used to add hemp hearts and flax, but they add a lot of calories, although very good for you I know.
When I have fruit that's ripening a bit fast, I peel and cut it up and put it in the freezer to add later. That's just as good as ice cubes.
My husband does not like my "healthy" smoothies, so I make him one first LOL.

I love green smoothies but my favorite is my chocolate smoothie: 3 tbs hemp protein powder, 2 tbs cocoa powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tablespoon flax seed, 1 banana, and one cup of almond milk. I love that pure cocoa powder is actually good for you; it's such a powerful antioxidant.

I prefer and 'do' Green drinks daily ....... emoticon ..... this is the equivalent to eating a huge green salad w/tons of veggies ............ BUT how I sabotage so it is tasty & delicious is to add a scoop of either frozen (or fresh) blueberries ............... or pineapple ......... and I happen to love Grapefruit juice so I add a little and some fresh ginger. ........... I never (or seldom) go a day without ............. The reason for veggies over fruit is they have scant or trace calories where fruit is pretty high and 1/2 C is one portion of fruit ......... so easy does it ...... emoticon emoticon emoticon All this and some chia seeds .......... POWERFUL and wonderful for skin! emoticon

Yeah, the Crystal Light isn't exactly 'clean' eating. (That's the part of the 5-10% of my diet that isn't 'clean' for me.)

I don't seem to have any 'noticeable' adverse affects, if I partake in moderation, but the chemistry
of artificial sweetener and how it affects your body is dreadful and really should be eliminated--from everyone's diet.

Thanks EBERKSHIRE86 for bringing that up.

Spinach smoothies are the best :) my kids get a real kick out of the green color and you can't even taste it spinach orange banana and strawberry is a good combo!

I don't drink crystal light anymore because of the aspartame in it. I used to but found that it actually caused me to crave more sweets when I eventually switched to just water my cravings really went down

I'm not a smoothie junkie, but still love a good smoothie from time to time.
I make mine mostly as a treat.

My favorite is: Unsweetened fruit juice, crystal light, strawberries, blackberries and oranges. (Any combo of 2 or 3 fruits) and blended with ice. ESPECIALLY in the summertime!

I like yogurt, banana, pineapple, peach, with honey . . . blends also.

To be honest I haven't got up the courage to blend and drink many of the spinach and kale smoothies I've read about, preferring to eat them the old fashion way. I have made a tomato, chili and/or veg soup flavored smoothie that I like and make occasionally which is good for the 'greens'. Now, I have a question . . . would this be called a smoothie or pureed soup??? (just curious)

I get into chewing too . . . lol.

Just started shakeology this week and trying to find a good combo so far not a fan of the vanilla the chocolate isn't too bad but not my favorite todays greenberry was the best so far but looking forward to tropical strawberry tomorrow. Anyone have any good shakeology recipes they want to share? I looked through the book they sent but a lot of them have juice and I try to stay away from juice in my smoothies when possible

Protein powder, 2 cups of spinach, 1 medium banana, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 Tbsp of natural peanut butter, ice and a little water.

Looks green, but taste like a treat!

Keeps me satisfied and very full while at work. I have to remind myself to not eat lunch too late.

Hello!

I am also addicted to smoothies! It started with a recipe on the Dr. Oz website and then I searched Pinterest.com and now I am hooked! My pantry and fridge will never be the same. I love putting spinach or kale in my smoothies! If you put a banana with it you can't taste it! If you don't like the green tinge color...use mixed berries! I went from flax seed to chia seeds added protein powder and on and on! My favorite liquid to put in my smoothies is almond milk. I get mine from Trader Joe's and it only has 40 calories for a 8 oz cup! Woohoo! If I am making something with pineapple I like the coconut water but it is more expensive per ounce than the almond milk so I use that more!

Happy Smoothies folks! They give me my 'sweet' fix and I am eating healthy! Can't beat that!

In case anyone is interested I am attaching the link to my smoothie folder on Pinterest:

I've been OBSESSED with smoothies for a couple weeks now...they have been my breakfast almost daily!

I always switch stuff around, but this is the most common one-
-a cup or two of kale
-1 scoop of whey (chocolate or vanilla)
-1 banana (can be frozen but not necessary)
-1/2 cup or a cup of frozen berries
-1 cup of water

One I recently made, because I wanted some coffee in the morning:
-1 frozen banana
-a couple coffee ice cubes
-1/2 cup a milk of your choice
-1/2 cup cold coffee
-1 scoop chocolate whey

yum!!

I make one based on a Dr. Oz smoothie recipe that is meant to give you protein in the morning to stave off those glucose spikes.

Greek yogurt - plain fat free (I use Fage, it has some of the highest protein I've found(
frozen strawberries
frozen blueberries
frozen pineapple
1 oz raw almonds
local honey

I use fresh fruit when I have it, but really like using at least one frozen because it gives it a better consistency. Fresh blueberries are ah-mah-zing in this!

Slow and steady wins the race.

I just experimented with smoothies this weekend. This was my favorite

1 frozen banana
1 cup pineapple with about 1/4 cup pineapple juice
1 cup coconut milk

Add one umbrella and one pool and you might thing you're on vacation :-)

I have a perfect body. I just pad it for protection.

These are great, thanks! I especially hadn't thought of throwing spinach into my smoothie! Can you taste it? Is it bitter? What a great way to get some veggies in.

Another favorite is:
1. A couple rings of pineapple,
2. a small orange
3. vanilla protein powder
4. 2 tbsp oatmeal
5. Ice

Yummy.

A favourite of mine lately has been:

-1/2 cup no salt added cottage cheese
-1/2 cup plain natural yogurt
-1 cup blueberries
-1/2 cup strawberries
-1 large handful of spinach
-1 tsp local honey

Very tasty and quite filling too.

Yay! The weather is getting warmer, and I'm busting out my smoothie maker. What are some of your favorite clean smoothie/shake recipes? Here's one of mine that tastes like a dessert:

1. Chocolate protein powder
2. Coconut milk
3. 1 Tbsp organic SF peanut butter
4. Ice
5. 1/4 cup of blueberries

Blend. Yum! A great protein snack that reminds me a little of haagen das when I need a fix after a hard workout.
