Hi! My name is Colleen, new to SparkPeople, but not to Eating Clean. Do you have the Eat Clean book by Tosca Reno? I suspect you're trying to follow what Tosca Reno calls "Cooler 1 Plan".
Some corrections to what you wrote: you can eat one piece of fruit per day (an apple or a pear), and Reno suggests splitting it in half, eating 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 later in the day. I didn't see you mention that you were getting in your healthy fats (olive oil, nuts (YES, you can eat nuts), etc) which can REALLY help you lose. Reno also does not advocate counting calories in her book (thank goodness). You can also have another serving of complex carbs besides the oatmeal (sweet potato or other grain). Finally, did you make sure to pair a protein with your carbs? Goes a LONG way to ensure that you don't get hungry.
I would really recommend getting the book, or borrowing it from the library. I have seen so many articles or meal plans that claim to be "by Tosca Reno" that go exactly against with Reno recommends. I have followed the Cooler 1 plan, and it takes some serious determination, but I wasn't hungry. In fact, I had to force myself to eat every three hours to ensure I got enough calories in. I hope this helps.
So for 4 days I followed a clean eating meal plan (most like the stripped one) that I had gotten from an Oxygen mag Off the Couch issue from 2011. The meal plan is for 7 days, you eat lots of protein, and no fruit, dairy, or nuts. The calorie range on the plan is 1300-1550, which is what I typically eat.
I eat clean about 90% of the time and wanted to try this. I saw great results the first four days, losing ~5lbs.
By the fourth night though, I felt super hungry and all I could think about was fruit! The thought of eating eggs, chicken, green beans, and oatmeal for three more days made me want to gag. Needless to say, the next day I just went back to my normal clean eating. I would still like to follow one of the more balanced meal plans from the Clean Eating mag to clean up and balance my diet even more.
I wish I could have kept it up to continue with the weight loss. Has anyone else had this type of experience with one of Tosca Reno's stricter plans? Why would I feel so hungry with the meal plan even though I was getting my normal amount of calories? Any other thoughts/suggestions. Thanks!
