Well, for starters I have had a BIOIMPEDENCE test done at my naturopath's. Cost: about thirty bucks.
It tells me my lean muscle mass, body fat percentage, skeletal weight, body water, basal metabolic rate or daily calorie expenditure.
My daily calorie expenditure, if I sit in bed all day is 1700 cals (approx).
So, I use this to figure out my macros

al
culator.htm

I choose 20 % carb, 40% fat and 40% protein ratio...

Other factors are this.. my fat is MOSTLY made up of coconut oil. Coconut oil, unlike ANY other oil, contains slightly less than 7 calories per gram. Al other fats contain 9 calories per gram. So, I haven't done THAT much math, lol to re-figure all of that out. Spark says coconut oil is the same as regular oil so I haven't bothered to recalculate (there's only so much number crunching I can do).
I haven't been eating grain for several weeks.... I have a STRONG theory that grain is at the root of obesity as well as modern day illness, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc...

Laura,

How do you figure out your calorie range? It can't be SP generated? I used BFFM calculations before and am just curious...

Hi! I am using the Paleo diet. It just makes sense... I feel it's much cleaner food than the "Eat Clean Diet", Anyhow... I got the Paleo Diet cookbook. There is two weeks of menu plans included as well as many recipes...

and I also HIGHLY recomend the Coconut Oil Miracle. It will change the way you look at "healthy" vegetable oils...

Coconut oil and the paleo methods are working so well for me. Gosh! I'm down another 2 pounds today. I ate 2000 cals yesterday and almost 100 grams of fat (from coconut oil).

I'm semi-new to the idea of clean living. Also, in reading some other threads, I'm curious about the paleo diet plan. Can anyone recommend some good books to get me started? Thanks
