Here is the detox i followed for one week before starting my clean eating. Ive done it a few times and if ive fallen off track it always helps me get back on! Enjoy.
*Drink plenty of purified water:tap water contains chlorine and other contaminants.
*Vegetables:Raw or steamed vegetables are best. Eat plenty of salads, celery, broccoli, beans, salsa, etc. Vegetables with high starch content should be kept to a minimum, for example potatoes and carrots.
*Unsweetened rice, soy, or almond milk. Avoid all dairy.
*Grains: Steel cut oats, brown rice, millet, barely, quinoa, kamut, spelt, or couscous. All of these grains can be cooked similar to rice and taste great cooked with chicken or vegetable stock.
*Meat:Fish, chicken, turkey,.Free range or naturally raised chicken is best.
*Nuts:Almonds, filberts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and nut butters made from these nuts. Make sure they are raw.
*Beans:Navy, kidney, adzuki, soy, black, lima, garbanzos, and red beans:Lentils (red and brown) and split peas (yellow and green).
*Salad dressing: Lemon Juice, cold pressed olive oil, with garlic and herbs.
*Snacks:Brown rice cakes and crackers, with guacamole, hummus, almond butter, or salsa.
*protein shakes with almond milk if working out. (make sure sugar free)
*decaf green tea
FOODS TO AVOID:
*Sugar and sugar substitutes:Avoid all foods containing sugar (all ingredients ending in "ose" are usually sugar). Aspartame should be avoided as well due to its detrimental effects on the nervous system.
*Coffee and regular teas. All caffeine. Herbal teas are acceptable.
*Yeast: Avoid all foods prepared with yeast. This included all baked goods including bread.
*Wheat: avoid all wheat and wheat products including bread, pasta, cereals, etc.
*Nuts: peanuts, and peanut products, pistachios
*Sprouts:alfalfa, mung beans, mustard etc.
*Pickled and smoked meats and fish: Including sausages, hot dogs and all deli meats.
*Condiments, sauces, and vinegar containing foods.
Follow for 1 week then resume clean eating. If wanted follow for 2 weeks but no longer.
