Wow! Love it! Thanks for all the suggestions. Umm, I'm now hungry after reading these, but I"m staying away from the kitchen -- except to go freeze a banana!

Thanks again!

What if you made those nuts roasted hazelnuts? Would you get some wonderful hommage to Nutella? Hmmm... I have hazelnuts, so I might try it.

Oh yah, ummy yummy. I've done the same; dipping a banana into cocoa powder. the banana gives just enough sweetening to do the trick for a fruit and chocolate fix!

Let's see, where could we go from here. Could we add a bit of shredded coconut?

I have to give another shout-out to the frozen banana. The other day, I took a banana and coated it in a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder, then froze it. It was sweet and bitter and totally delicious.

I've also done the cottage cheese in a blender thing. One meal I've enjoyed in the past is cottage cheese in blender with some dill mixed in. Then put that on top of any kind of whole wheat and top with sliced tomato. Yum!

Oh yah, cut the bananas into 2 shorter lengths and push a Popsicle stick up the middle. Your little guy is sure to think that's wonderful. And for a dessert treat you can make a chocolate coating and dip some of the frozen banana Popsicles into it. Makin' me hungry!

I haven't started fully eating clean yet but I am getting my food pantry and fridge much cleaner. More fish, salads and fruits. Now
Makin~ LMBO! You sound just like me. I am so glad you brought that up about the oatmeal and cottage cheese because I CAN NOT stand that texture.

Cheri~ AWESOME idea! I will try that but as for the oat, after you toast them I long should I cook them?

Aniduck~That frozen banana sounds great! I can get my son to get that too. He's 16 months and he loves bananas. So I believe that will go over well with him. I hope!

I agree with CHERISIMA722. I used to make baby cereal by putting oats or rice in a blender and turning them into a course flour and then cooking them. Works really well for a smooth, warm-your-tummy breakfast.

I say put the cottage cheese in the blender or processor first 'till it's as smooth as you like it then add the frozen banana. The way I do frozen bananas is to peel them and put them in plastic bags in the freezer. If I have more than one to freeze I wrap them in a little bit of waxed paper before putting them in the plastic bag so they won't freeze together. They are always there, on hand when you want them.
Best of health,

You can use the food processor to change the texture. Cottage cheese is a lot like plain yogurt after a whiz in the food processor. You can make oatmeal more floury too, in the food processor. You can also buy oat flour, if eating oats is especially important to you. You can also toast oats in a pan (not too hot, and you don't really need oil), and they'll have a more nutty flavor, and be more crunchy too.

I freeze bananas for my smoothies, and it's pretty wonderful! The combinations are endless with fruit smoothies. You can even use cottage cheese in a smoothie, and it's pretty much the same as plain yogurt, but you may have to blend longer.

I must admit, I haven't been eating as clean as I should and as a result I feel blech. Trying to really get focused and am using the 2 wk plan from the May/June Clean Eating magazine.

Cottage Cheese: can't stand it, but I'm going to try it again. My issue is more of a texture thing but any recommendations on how to make the stuff more palatable? (by the way, same question goes for Oatmeal. I love oats in stuff, but just can't do the texture and my oatmeal pancakes never taste right)

Berries: I'm allergic to strawberries and I'm a kidney stone former so I have to really limit all other berries. I'll do the blueberries planned for this week and I incorporate raspberries every now and then into a smoothie. In general, I'm a big fan of apples, bananas, oranges and grapes as a result. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions -- specifically for a smoothie (recipe??)
