Hope it's not too late to add one, but my fav hearty side is -
Can of black beans rinsed and drained
Red bell pepper
Red onion or green-tailed onion
Frozen corn (if you prefer - I don't)
Avocado (if you prefer)
Juice from half a lime
Mix together and eat - it's like a meal. Use as much of the ingredients as you prefer or leave out what you don't like. Can eat as a side or in a whole wheat pita.
