Starting cooler 1 today, not sure if I am going to keep the bee pollen. For some reason I am having a hard time stomaching it.

I need to take a break from running for the next two weeks, so I am going to try cooler one this week and see what happens!

I followed it for four days a few months ago and I saw a dramatic change in how I feel-I hope that I can stick to it this time. Not being able to do intense cardio is definitely going to help though.

I will keep you posted!

Shannybear, I've not seen the cooler plans online. You have to get the book (hey, everyone wants to get paid, right?)
I've not tried cooler 1 or 2, but i am thinking on starting cooler 2 this week. so far, I've just been eating clean foods and trying to follow the eating every 2 hours thing. That can get hard to do though. sometimes I'm just not hungry or don't have the time at those times. Two days this week I went 6 hours between breakfast and lunch. I know... i know....
Anyways, I think that cooler 1 is going to be waaaaaay too strict for me. I've done that whole "no fruit" thing before and it just doesn't work for me.
So I'm going to start reading up on C2 now and wrap my head around it.
I've already eaten my breakfast today, so I may just have to call that a wash if it doesn't fit the program.

The cooler plans include dinner as well. As Tosca mentions you should be eating 5-6 times a day, so breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and maybe an evening snack or extra snack earlier depending on how frequently you eat if you are eating every 2 hours instead of every 3.

The idea of packing a cooler is to help you get through the day when you are out and about or at work, but you could pack your whole day including dinner I suppose. I only pack the meals I am eating at work in my cooler.

If you find you like eating clean I would suggest The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook. I just love her recipes. My family of meat eaters even liked her veggie chili.

I don't think the cooler plans are meant to include dinner. I think they are for when you are out and about, like a workday.

What are everyone else's thoughts on that?

Thanks for all the info. I just received my Expanded version and am going to start the Plan on Monday. I am currently out of town on vacation but am still trying to stick to clean eating as much as I can. It really has not been to terribly hard.

The Expanded Version just says exactly that up in the corner, otherwise as far as I could see, it looked just like the original version. But it has the Cooler Plans and sample menus for them. I found it pretty user-friendly.

I have officially survived 6 full days on Cooler Plan 1 and actually finally starting to see results in my body. I had already lost weight with it and body fat, but today I started to see a big difference. I love this diet. . .I mean lifestyle!

I'm on Day 3 of the Cooler 1 plan. I cut back my running to only 2 days but am still doing P90X. Doing OK here. The 1st day was REALLY bad-I was tired & sleepy, better yesterday and great today. Today I did P90X, a 32 minute run and mowed the lawn. So I have more energy today.

I think I really like the fact that it is TOTALLY laid out as to what to eat. That makes it a no-brainer. I'm not good at pre-planning meals. What sounds good at the time I plan it, DOESN'T sound so good when it comes time.

Thank you. I have the regular Eat Clean diet book and the cook book but not the expanded version. Is it just called the expanded version?
I am also looking for additional menues. I am still learning to put them together but still don't have alot of confidence in what I am doing yet.

Kristinaraines,

Are you still doing cooler plan # 1? If so, how is it going?

I'm thinking about doing it again, and reading your entries motivates me to try it once more.

Have a great day.

I am getting healthier!

Hi everyone!

Today is my very first day of eating clean and I am trying to follow the Cooler 1 Plan. So far so good! I am not hungry at all and have no cravings which prior to starting this new adventure, I was on a horrible sugar binge.

My only concern with this plan is. . .how do you spice things up? I'm not a great cook, so right now my chicken is pretty bland, so was the oatmeal this morning, and the egg whites. It didn't taste bad, just bland. Trying to avoid adding salt and of course sugar or any sweeteners in this first week. Any suggestions that can still coordinate with the strictness of Cooler Plan 1?

Ok an update...

I tried the plan I posted yesterday and I felt great again. I was able to workout and not feel like I was going to pass out! I am going to stick with this for a week or two and see what happens. My weight is still stuck at 128.8

I'm having a lot of fun getting my book from Amazon. I originally ordered the Eat Clean book before I found out about the expanded version. Waited 2 weeks to find out that Amazon was having supply issues. Possibly due to the new version replacing the old version? I canceled my order and went to find a used one. Found new ones at Amazon for $1.36 + $3.99 shipping. Ordered that one and it shipped yesterday. I know it isn't the expanded version, but on my limited budget, I went for the old version plus a used copy of the family cookbook. I'm eager to do the cooler plan but as I play outdoor soccer, I probably have to stay away from Cooler 1 if its too low in calories. Can't be passing out on the soccer field!

Alright just to update everyone I have decided to change my cooler plan like this:

Breakfast:
1 pc fruit
1 whole grain carb
1 serving of protein

Snack 1:
1 pc fruit
Protein shake (whey)

Lunch:
2 cups vegetables
1 whole grain carb
1 serving protein

Snack 2:
2 cups vegetables
1 serving protein

Dinner:
2 cups vegetables
1 serving whole grain carb
1 serving protein

I am going to give this a try and also I will be exercising for 75 minutes 6 days per week. I am doing a running program for 30 minutes on the treadmill and then for the remainder of 45 minutes I am going to mix it up with all the workout DVDs I have. I will do a different one every day. Maybe I can confuse my body enough to shed some fat! Wish me luck!!

Ok so I must say that this cooler plan is really not suitable for someone who wants to workout as well. There just is not enough calories. I am going to increase my calories gradually back up to around 1400 so I can workout again. I really do like the concept of eating every 3 hours. It gives me a ton more energy and I never get that too full feeling. Total I lost 3.4lbs. Not too bad in such a short time. I am going to continue the whole concept of lean protein, veggies and whole grains. Instead of the 1/2 apple or pear in the morning and afternoon I will have a whole one. This really does work. I just have a beach trip in a few weeks and I want to be somewhat toned!! I am off to my gym to enjoy some cardio and weight training! I can't wait!!

The protein is not an issue. I am getting around 100 grams per day. The fat is very low. Under 20 grams per day. Carbs are below 150 per day. I haven't eaten any sugar for months so I don't think it is withdrawal. I just think the calories are just too low. I don't want to sacrifice working out for this. I am going to add calories today so I can workout this evening. The treadmill misses me!!

I haven't seen the cooler plan (I picked up "Making the Cut" this weekend instead), but are you getting enough protein and fats? I understand the idea behind the cooler plan, but make sure you're getting what you need nutrition wise - especially if you're doing the whole two weeks.

Or, I wonder if it's sugar withdrawal that's making you feel like you're dragging?

I am feeling a little bit better today. I am thinking that I am eating way too little calories. I have been eating less than 1000 calories on this plan. I feel weak and really tired. I couldn't even workout this morning. I am adding some calories today, with clean foods of course. I am adding some yogurt and a piece of fruit. I know I am not supposed to have yogurt but I really think I need it. My weight is the same as yesterday. 128.8. I am hoping to see some loss tomorrow. I will check in again later! Have a great day.

Wow today was really rough for me. I felt very foggy and lethargic all day. I came home from work and had an apple and an orange and now I feel better. I think my body misses all the fruit I usually eat. I think I might add another piece of fruit tomorrow and see what happens.

So is the "cooler plan" a set meal list? Or is it an additional set of principals? I don't have the expanded version of the book, but you guys are making me curious!

I woke up this morning starving. I guess that means my metabolism is working! I feel great. I did get really tired last night though. My weight was up to 128.8 this morning. I had a piece of bread yesterday. I know there is no bread allowed and I could kick myself in the butt for it. Today I am going back at it with nooooo bread!!

I did the Cooler 1 Plan several months ago and made it a Mon, Tues, and Wed before I thought I was going to choke on egg whites, chicken breast, and tuna. I finished the 2 weeks just doing a 100% clean plan, and I think I lost 5 pounds over 2 weeks.

Cooler 1 is a very strict plan and was difficult for me, but I am sure there are those who can do both weeks.

It is a great jumpstart or restart program!

OK guys here it goes! Yesterday was great. I worked out in the morning (cadio) and burned 514 calories. I felt great all day. You will never believe this... When I weighed myself this morning I was down to 127.2!!!! That is a difference of 4.4lbs since yesterday morning. I know I know there is no way that it is all fat loss but at least the scale is going down this time!! I actually feel more aware and more alert since starting this plan. My energy levels yesterday were through the roof!!

HEALTHYSASSY ,

Thank you so much for your reply! Yesterday was my first day and it was very hard. Now today I did do my hour of cardio and I feel great. It is only 10:30 am though! I will keep everyone updated. I want to push for the entire 2 weeks.

I tried cooler plan # 1 this week.

I started on Monday, and the first day was hard. The next day was ok, but by Wednesday I made it to dinner, and then decided that 3 days on it was enough for me. I was able to kick start some weight loss (lost about 3 lbs, almost 1 lb per day that I followed the plan).

I noticed that my stomach looked a little bit flatter, and not as bloated.

I think that it's a very challenging plan to follow, but I would definately try doing it again. I might try it once a month for a few days just to help with the weight loss.

The intensity of my workouts was high during the week, and I will be running a 5 km race on Sunday so I stopped the plan, but I would have liked to have seen what the results would have been if I had continued for the full 7 days.

I would love to hear from someone who has been able to do the cooler 1 plan for the full 7 days.

I found it challenging not to eat any bread!

Pros of the cooler 1 plan:
-lose weight quickly, about 1 lb a day if you follow it exactly;
-breakfast is easy enough, and something that I can probably maintain while off the plan;
-the plan really makes you think of food as a fuel source;
-feel energetic from the slow release of low GI foods;
-feel healthier;
-skin improves;
-can see more muscle definition in body;

Cons
-first day is very hard, especially by the time you reach the last meal (I was tired of seeing, and eating sweet potatoes);
-I felt like there wasn't enough variety in the food choices;
-It will be a while before I want to eat brown rice, and sweet potatoes.

I am getting healthier!

No more excuses!

I can do it!

That's my concern - doing cardio. When I finish running, I'm always starving. I don't want to cut it out because I'm training for a duathlon that's only a month away. So this should be interesting. Maybe I'll work on core conditioning for the two weeks instead.

Well I must say the 1st day was not so easy! Yesterday was my rest day so I did not work out. Today I am scheduled for cardio. I was fine until about 5pm last night. I was exhausted. I actually took a 20 minute nap and then felt fine. I feel great this morning. I am down .8 lbs today. Not much I know! But its only been 1 day. I hope this is enough calories to support my cardio this morning. We'll see! Updates tomorrow!

I'm planning on getting the book this weekend and starting on Monday. I've lost 52 pounds, but cannot get (and keep) the last 10 or so off. Maybe this will get me over the hump.

For everyone else who is planning on trying it, please keep in touch and let me know how you're doing! Maybe we can motivate each other through it :)

Ya know, there wasn't much of a weight loss, but the bloating of my stomach went away, and I did start to feel like my clothes weren't really fitting right. But again, I didn't really stick with it for too long.

I have no idea what the workout plan would be for cooler one. But I will say this, I am doing Jillian's "making the cut" program and I have started my 'clean eating' in the past week. I lost 4 lbs this week. Now granted, I am off my meds for an sinus infection and gained those 4 lbs a week ago, but who knows. Anyhow, DEFINITELY incorporate weights and try some circuit training. I can't believe how much more energy I have while working out while eating clean! Good luck!

I do want to try the Cooler 1 plan but right now I am still breastfeeding so it will have to wait a few months I guess. I am looking forwatd to it though. I imagine it would be a good jumpstart.

The expanded version gives a lot more detail about all the coller plans. There are also sample menus for family plan, vegan and gluten free plans. As well as a food tracker.
I just bought the expanded version and gave away the original one I had.

I ordered the original Eat-Clean diet book but not the expanded one. Is the Cooler plan in the original? I don't think my library has the new one either.

Yes! Let us know how it works for you. I think BLACKANDI had some success with it, and I'm sure you will too. I'm just not sure i could stick with it.
I may try it; we will see.
Hope it goes well for you!

I'm going to start the plan on Monday. So I hope there is success to be made! Tosca says that is hard and that not everyone can do it, but I'm hoping to finish off at least a week and a half.

I tried the Cooler 1 plan for about 4 days. My biggest problem is that I don't like tuna so I just messed with that a bit and added salmon and tilapia instead. Its hard, and Tosca even tells you, YOU WILL BE HUNGRY. Its fine for the first few days, but as your metabolism starts to rev up you get hungrier and hungrier. I had to stop after a few days, especially because my family wasn't keen on the plan either. I think its a great starter, especially because it works to clean you up. Try it, everyone's different.
