If you are what you eat...then I'm nuts!

I really do eat too many nuts though. I'm trying to cut them out

Hi!!! I find when I eat lots of veggies in each meal I NEVER cross my calorie limit for the day.

I feel so much more relaxed about food now that I have a vegetarian foundation. I do eat meat but conservatively.

That show "you are what you eat" is bang right on!!!

I truly do believe this. Which is one reason why I eat mostly vegetarian (I also do it for ethical reasons). And when I do eat meat, I often buy it at our local farmer's market.

Of course I'm moving to a place that doesn't have a year-round farmer's market . . . I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I thought perhaps this thread was about the t.v. show, "You are what you eat" with Gillian McKeith. Anyone watch that show? She advises people to buy organic as much as possible. She puts people on detox diets for 8 weeks and they look awesome after only that short period of time. I would love to do a detox diet but I am really struggling these days to just eat healthy as it is.

I am buying organic, but unfortunately, I am buying the organic junk as well. I just finished a small bag of organic potato chips...giving in to my cravings emoticon

Hi!!! I'm in Canada as well and I buy organic at the same or slightly more (.25cent on average )more as non-organic. I love what our grocery stores are doing.
It's all about Choice!!!!!

You are so right! In addition you are what you eat eats. That is why I am going more and more organic whenever possible. A really good book In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan was my a-ha moment.

The way I figure, if the garbage food costs less money and we buy it, then really the COST is much too high. The damage to our bodies.
I always try to buy organic. I know it can get expensive... that's why I have given up some other LUXURIES in my life (smoking, for one...)
Amazingly, though. There is one particular food chain, here in Canada, where you can buy organic foods at really COMPARIBLE prices! Save-On-Foods (Used to be Overwaitea)
I applaud them! They not only have produce, cereal, cookies... anything. Icecream, meat, you name it. If there is an organic alternative, they stock it. The prices are really reasonable!
Also, organic eggs are a good alternative to meat, and so is wild seafood. (Not farmed)
Fruit and veggies are about the same price as non-organic... at THIS store anyhow.

Garbage in, garbage out. Same goes for food. I like the idea of being able to me conscious of the types of meats I eat. I would prefer to eat "organic" meat and eco-friendly fish. But the cost of the "garbage" option was much better. I am going to spend the extra on the cleaner meats and eat less of. I am going to try to add more veggie protein to my diet.

Healthy in, healthy out.

Eat the food that God gave us, not the "food" that humans created in laboratories
