If you have a Whole Foods or other natural foods store near you that has bulk food bins, try that. It's almost always cheaper to buy from the bulk bins than to buy the packaged stuff and at someplace like WF, it's more likely to be clean. Also, you can buy only as much as you need (or can afford) and avoid waste.

I can probably guarantee the walmart brand has sugar. I did find an Eden Organic brand that is sweetened with Apple juice.

Walmart carries a generic brand of dried cranberries which are reasonable priced. The probably contain extra sugar, not sure.

The ones I can find fresh, when I can find them, are just very pale pink, with a few blushes of red. Is this a variety or are they less nutritious the way they look?

I dry my own in a food dehydrator. I also throw chopped, fresh or frozen cranberries into my homemade salsa, very good on fish or chicken.

I can get Craisins at Sam's of course but they are sugared. The only unsugared ones I have found are tiny packages at huge prices in health food stores.
Any ideas?
Do you think it's better not to eat them at all than to eat them sugared?
