DH thinks I'm crazy, but I've told him don't knock it 'til he's tried it... Raw carrots are sweet - and they are really yummy with a little peanut butter on them. We buy all natural, ground ourselves at the health food store, PB and organic carrots. I think it's a delicious clean snack!

Hi Ya'll,

Moms--try cut up raw/steamed {with garlic or ginger} broccoli with a yoghurt based dip.

The secret in eating stuff ya dont like is to try it a thousand diff way to find the ways ya DO like...how many people dont like a nice fruit platter or crudités with dip?

party time emoticon

I also agree that protein will help keep you fuller. Try some string cheese with those grapes. Or an apple with peanut butter.

I definately agree with the protein. I try to eat approx 20g per meal and I eat about 5 meals per day, not so much snacks.

Personally, I like to snack on raw veggies. I don't worry about not feeling full enough because you can't really eat too many veggies!
Today I had a big bowl of sliced cucumbers, carrots, and red cabbage on the counter to eat while I made snacks and dinner for the kids.

I found that if I ate a hefty breakfast (for me, 300 calories, 2 breads, 1 milk, 1 fruit) and then a reasonable lunch, reasonable mid-afternoon meal, nice dinner, I didn't feel the need to snack at all. If I only eat 200 calories for breakfast I get a major snack attack in the afternoon!!! I want something every 45 minutes to an hour!

Hi Ya'll,

Mom--fruit is good but it lack the staying power of a good protein option.

Cottage cheese, yoghurt with fruit & a little honey, nuts with fruit, hummus with veggies, celery and/or apple with nut butter, edamame, hard boiled eggs without the yolks, smoothies, air-pop popcorn, cut up veggies with a dip.

This is what comes to my mind. To get more ideas, Oxygen Magazine has an Nutrition magazine on newsstands and of course, the Eat Clean Magazines & books.

Ah, I know your pain Oh So Well! But I'll tell you since eating clean and making sure I get enough carbs, cal, fat, and protein I have dramatically, DRAMATICALLY reduced my sugar and chocolate cravings (I still get them sometimes at TOM) So there is HOPE. THERE IS!!

What helps me is to make sure I eat protein when I start getting hungry...I eat cottage cheese (13 g of protein in a half cup serving), low fat or non fat Greek yogurt with honey in it (17 g of protein for a half cup serving), 1/4 cup of dry roasted edamame, all of these really help me. Plus make sure you get your veggies - the fiber also really fills you up. I love to eat carrots - the crunchiness and the sweetness really help me. I'll eat grape tomatoes with string low fat mozzarella cheese.

I am sure others will have tips for you, too. But cutting out the white processed stuff and high fructose corn syrup really seemed to eliminate my sugar/chocolate cravings.

HELP!!! So I'm new to the whole eating clean idea...Now I do good in the morning until after lunch!

That is when the need to snack comes in.

I drink water..I drink tea..I have a healthy lunch snack on grapes..but it seems like from 1-4pm all I want to do is SNACK!! Of course Halloween is here so candy especially chocolate is a HUGE weakness of mine! I think its substitued the smoking habit I use to have...does anyone have any tips for healthy low calorie snacks or even better a way to keep my mind off the unhealthy choices? Especially if you've kinda gone through the same thing and overcame it please help me!!

~Heather~
