Depends on what you're looking for. Personally I want the most grams of protein for my calorie buck, which is better with egg. Also, hemp is a bit cost prohibitive for me. Egg protein is $6.50 a pound, whereas hemp is about double that, depending on where you're able to get it. Amazon.com seems to have the best prices if hemp is the route you want to go!

Eternal, you can also try brown rice protein powder. It tends to be a bit cheaper and lower calorie, though hemp has all 20 known amino acids...

I buy from sportprotein.com. :)

Soybeans can be GMO and not be labeled unless the product is organic. It's really a difficult thing to find for the most part. For vegans, I'd definitely go with hemp protein, though it's relatively low in protein by calorie content.

All things considered, as a non-vegan I think egg protein is the highest quality for the lowest cost. :) JMHO.

I don't believe that most all soy products contain GMO's. I believe that with all things we need to read labels and ask questions. For some of us, we don't eat egg or dairy which leaves in this list soy and hemp. Before anyone asks - no hemp protein will not make you test positive on a random UA.

I tend to think that egg is the best. You don't get the gunky immune response that milk gives you, and it's a complete protein. 1 TBSP is 50 calories and 11.5 grams of protein. No carbs, no fat, no cholesterol, nothing added to the dried egg whites (depending on what brand you get). Doesn't have a taste, so you're not covering anything up with sweeteners, artificial or otherwise. It's a bit more expensive at $65 for 10 lbs, but I only go through 20 lbs a year using 20 TBSP per day, which is about $0.33/day.

I wouldn't use soy, almost all soy is genetically modified these days, in addition to the other detrimental health effects.

I like the whey protein the best also- seems to have a good protein to calorie ratio and tends to be on the cheaper side. There still is a lot of controversy over the soy.

I am sure the type of protien you decide to use depends on your personal perferences but is there any nutritional benefits to using one over the other.
