I made the Almond Joy cars and altered the recipe a little. I used choc protein powder and subbed dried cranberries for the chocolate chips since I didn't have any. Very yummy! DH said they tasted like those no-bake cookies. I was thinking of adding in some peanut butter next time.

Erin-

I double that on the Balance Bars! Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite.

Calories: 200
Fat: 7g
Sat Fat: 4g
Sodium: 200mg
Sugars: 17g
Protein: 15g

Zone Perfect Bars are pretty good too, and if you like Chocolate Mint that one is delish.

Calories: 210
Fat: 7g
Sat Fat: 4.5g
Sodium: 180mg
Sugars: 13g
Protein: 14g

I don't think they compare with eating whole foods, but when you're on the go- it's a good fix.

I am focusing on the bigger picture. enhancing my lifestyle and helping others to do the same.

I saw the Lara Bars at the store today, but they seemed kinda high in fat and low in protein to me... My favorites are the cliff bars, but they do have a lot of sugar. Pure Protein bars have a higher amt of protein (20 g). I read somewhere that the Balance Bars are a good one, and they're pretty tasty. I like the choc chip cookie dough one.

Did you use chocolate protein powder? Seems like it would be but wasn't sure with the cocoa powder and all. Thanks for the review and I am goin to make these tonight. Sound delish...

I was looking at the back of one of my Clif bars today, and it didn't look too bad as far as additives, but the sugar content is really high...

I've backslidden... I reached my goal and was now maintaining, but now I need to lose 10 pounds and firm up.

Larabars are great but not very high in protein. I'll bring one to a baseball game for a snack but there's not enough protein for an actual meal.

Lara Bars are vegan energy bars that taste pretty good, and I think are high in protein, and are clean because they're vegan!

They aren't exactly protein bars, but I eat Kashi bars which are clean. Only one of the chewy ones is too high in carbs compared with protein.

This came from someone on one of my other teams. She hasn't given me a link to it on SparkRecipes yet, I don't think she knows how to use it yet but she did post it on a thread to share. It looks pretty good to me and I hope to make some to have around.

Protein Power Bars

Dry ingredients:
2 scoops chocolate protein powder (I mixed 2 T cocoa powder with the vanilla)
1 1/2 cup quick oats
1 c powdered milk
2 T ground flax seed

Wet ingredients
4 T pb
1 t vanilla
1/2 cup water

Combine together and add 1/4 cup craisins, chocolate chips, or nuts. Press into a med bread pan (sprayed with pam) and refrigerate several hours. Dump out of pan and cut into nine slices. Put each slice in a baggie and store in refrigerator. These taste a lot like a no bake cookie.

About 15 grams of protein, 180 calories.

I will use dark chocholate to make mine.

Seems like trying to find a fine balance of taste, adequate protein and decent calories is not an easy task, lolol.

I like Clif Bars but I'm not convinced they are clean (but they aren't horrible either). Gnu fiber bars are clean and low fat but I'm not sure how high in protein. Clif Nectar bars are definitely clean, but I haven't been able to find them lately, plus I'm not sure how much protein is in them (probably not too bad). People like Lara bars, I personally want lower calories than that for the size of bar it is...

Hi everyone,
I just have a question about protein bar, what is a good one for eating clean, I prefer to eat a low fat one. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks~Joyce
