Oh my goodness! I hadn't looked back at the page until today...sorry for the confusion on the link! I'm glad someone was nice enough to clear that up for us! Those pesky additives are in EVERYTHING. I do use some processed foods, but I know if I buy Kashi and Paul Newman brands, I'm safe from these awful additives! Thank goodness for them!

I already had a list of a few things. FDC Blue 1, MSG, quinoline yellowand aspartame to monitor for ADHD in my daughter. I will add the sodium benzoate, BHA, BHT, sodium nitrites and nitrates, the K sweetener. Wow so much to avoid but eating clean makes it easier. This is all about eating less processed foods.

oh wow, just read the article - I'm pretty good (anal in fact emoticon ) about reading food labels, but I'd never even looked at the gum I've been chewing like crazy (particularily the last month since I quit smoking). It has artificial sweeteners, artificial colors and BHT (one of the preservatives listed in the article)Arghhhh!!!

Link fixed. If you just copy and paste into the reply, most of the time the link ends up on two lines. When we go to copy and paste, we only get the first line. For the link to work use the "Add a link" button on the reply page. Click on it, copy and paste the link into it, then click again and it adds it as an underlined link in the reply. There was also a little section at the end that was messing it up.

For me - I was chewing gum alot and it seems to make me breath faster. I am not sure if it is messing with my ashma (which is pretty mild) or my heart (MVP/MVR issues). So I started to read packages and sure enough, everytime I eat something with that in it, I start breathing faster. It is linked somehow to epinephrine which they use in dentist offices to numb you, which I am also sensitive to. So I just started researching on my own really. I am still very early in researching this. So please don't take all my info to heart :-D Just focus on your reactions to certain foods and if you are sensitive, you will know :-) Our bodies are good at warning us of some things :-)

Thank you for sending this, but I can't seem to find the article you are referring to. I will try again later to see if my brower is doing something crazy :-)

Also - be careful regarding phenylalanine, it is an amino acid and it seems to be in protein powders but isn't always listed if they don't show an amino panel on the nutrition label. I am pretty sensitive to this amino, so I have to analyze everything -

I clicked on this link this morning and was disgusted by the effects of these additives that are in so much of our food. It just reinforced the idea of clean eating to me. Our bodies don't thrive when we fill them with chemicals and junk. I have strayed a little bit, but this makes me think twice...again. ahah. I really gotta give up diet coke and sugarless gum...those phenalynalines! (sp)?
